The new chapter in Donnie's book is in the current Feb 2009 AIM.

Here's the best line which is also the last line in the Conclusion:

"Next month I'm going to get into the controversial stuff: head gaskets and supposedly separating cylinder liners"

Huh? :nixweiss:

Donny is about a year and $000 late imo.  This is all yesterday's news to anyone that has been paying attention.  Most likely let my sub to AIM die a quiet death when it runs out.  Haven't found much of any interest lately.

This is the inherent problem with print media and the internet. By the time someone like him has something to say, it's already yesterday's news. I was recently asked why I let a subscription to a trade publication expire and told the editor, who is a longtime friend, that I could find just as much information on the internet (on his website for free) as I could in his magazine. For those that say "you can't believe anything on the internet", do you really think those penning stories for magazines are any better?

AJ, I'd have to say that for the most part they are.  Heck anyone who can type (even with one finger) can start some chit on the internet.  While I'm certainly not defending Donny it took him six or seven months after I began talking to him before he said he would write about it.  Reason?  He had to see for himself and I commend him for that at least.  Problem - that was damn near one year ago and it is just now hitting the news stands.  Ain't worth chit now imo.

Have you read American Iron's Techline article by Donny Petersen titled " Part I : The head gasket oil leak and other issues" ?  I believe it to be part 1 of a five part series on the 110".  I found it interesting but what disturbed me the most was the $6.00 price for the magazine. Check it out.  I'm interested in what other CVO owners think of this.

American Iron CVO article (part 2)
« Reply #81 on: December 23, 2008, 08:41:22 PM »

OK, so part 1 was less than thrilling (see previous thread), but I still had high hopes for part 2. Boy was I dissappointed; four pages about throttlebodies and valve springs. I just don't get it. I wanted the insight to solve the problems, not a pitch on a build in your shop. Although I felt Peterson rambled I have to admit I am already waiting for part 3, and perhaps some solid assessments.

Unfortunately I think Donny is more concerned about making himself and his shop look good than he is in giving useful information.  jmho.

Or the publisher told him to make this issue cover 5 monthly issues to help sales for that period!

Does anyone know if the 09 110's use chains or gears for the cams?  :nixweiss:
