Unfortunately sometimes things in the world change around us, and we reach a point where our own personal beliefs don't coincide with what we were previously an integral part of. It happens throughout our lives. I really hate when that happens here though. We're so much more together than most of the rest of society here. So it hurts more that something can't be worked out to convince him to stay here with us. But when you feel that strongly enough about something, you do what you gotta do to stay true to yourself. We're gonna miss you here Brian! The personality of this Great Site is forever changed as of yesterday!!!

 What's up  , I have enjoyed meeting Brian and reading his post. I love that he speaks his mind. I like his post when I have to get the dictionary out to look up one of his big words .
 I hope this is not true, and that maybe he is taking a break.

But if ya don't agree with what Site Rules dictate you're allowed to speak your mind on, you have to decide what to do in your heart Karen. I don't always agree with policies or decisions here either, just as in real life. But rules is rules, and I know not take it personally. But if you feel strongly enough about a principle, it might be more than just taking it personal. It might cut against the grain of everything you believe in. I sure hope he changes his mind today though!

My take on things.

Spiderman started a thread that was percieved as being political.
I'm sure that wasn't his intent but it was percieved as being political.
Rules of posting clearly state that political threads are not allowed.
The thread was removed, I had the same happen to me a few months back for the same reason.
That upset me, but rules are rules and everyone has to abide by them.
Brian is a reasonable man and also understands that rules are rules.
I think and hope he will be back.
The Spiderman I know is a smart man.
Just give him a little time.

     As I watched President Obama's Inauguation this morning, I was filled with a great sense of citizenship, of patriotism, love of my country - - -call it what you will. It had nothing to do with whether I agree with the man or not. I certainly didn't vote for him. It was about the things he spoke of in his speech. Ideas and ideals I believe in. What separates us all as Americans from the rest of the world. And I was proud, very proud to be an American. So I posted as much on the site and the moderators deleted the thread. When I asked why I was told it was political. That was it for me. that was my line in the sand which I could not cross. When I can't say that I am proud to be an American whether it be to one person or 7,000, the method by which I am prevented from proclaiming my pride in my country has to end. I am done with CVOHarley. This storm has been gathering for some time and I've tried to show support for an agenda which doesn't exist. There is no cohesive train of thought to how the site is moderated these days, it is simply act and react without thought or purpose. I have spent my entire 55 years standing for what I believe in. I'm not about to stop now. I will miss you all greatly, but a man has to be true to himself or he is naught but an empty shell.

A sad day indeed Brian. Your insight and thoughts will be sadly missed. I guess that certain things in life will always rub us up the wrong way, whatever our colour, race or creed, but the upshot of it all is that whether we like it or not there will always be rules and boundaries that we have to abide by to live in a harmonious World.

I for one applaud your patriotism, I'm sure our Planet would be a better place if we could all uphold the ideals and beliefs of the vast majority of the Western World.

I wish you luck in everything you decide to do in the future.

Wow...

I've only been here a month or so. In that time, Spiderman has been a large presence, posting in almost every thread I've read or participated in. This is a huge loss for CVOHarley.

It seems that from the message that he sent that the issue over the thread he posted is the mythical "straw that broke the camel's back". I have no idea what other things had been brewing, but I can certainly identify with feeling that sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Spiderman, you'll be missed greatly here. I hope you can see your way clear to come back someday... preferably soon.

Never had the honor of meeting Brian face-to-face, but enjoyed his post immensely.  Brian, you did a great job of making me think!

I understand your reasons for leaving, but doesn't mean I have to like it   This forum just ain't gonna be the same without you brother.  Maybe someday you will make your way back... hope so!

Hopefully we will get to meet-up out on the road someday
