Had to talk with HD and send pictures...  Received a call from the Dealer Service Manager today... new seat on the way.        Manager related that HD admits some were too short.  (See pics). 

Jim's post above cited a request for confirmation of at least 1" gap.  Much much less than that would still look like crap.  The one pictured there isn't nearly a 1" gap.  Have to wonder if some poor bastards will end up getting hosed on this?

Agreed. I didn't measure mine but I'm sure it'll be at least one inch when I get to the shop.

That's for sure.  Wouldn't matter what question they asked the answer would still be yes.  Once they've bought replacement it's one of those cases where it's easier to apologize than it ever might have been to get permission to begin with.

procedures before taking picture:

remove back fender screw...adjust gap to proper spacing...take picture...take old seat to dealer in your car

My dealer got someone at C Service and the "dipstick" of course hasn't heard of any recalls, bulletins, or anything wrong with our seats.   Gonna have to use the old CVO harley site info. and tighten some screws. Let's Roll

Brought this up with my dealer yesterday, he called me back today to say, that he reported my issue with the MoCo, they are aware of the problem and are waiting to replace the seats to ensure the cause has been identified and resolved properly.  He went on to say that once the problem is resolved they will send out a new seat.  Translation... keep on the dealer.

Update.   Got a new seat coming. 

After my dealer had talked to Cust. Service and got a "We'll look into it",  I call CS this morning and talked to Roxanne.  I told her about the problem and she said that she was going to look into it and she would call my dealer.  I did mention to her tha Ola and Suzie there at her office had dealt with it also, to make sure and talk to them to get the skinny.  Later this morning got a call from my dealer and presto a new seat is on the way.  To boot, Roxanne called me back this afternoon to update me and tell me the seat was on the way.  All in all a good day.  Let's Roll

I can't imagine he'll call Cus.Ser, I would do it myself...has worked everytime so far...don't count on your dealer, call Cus.Ser. and have them call him!...I think we've learned that this procedure works
