Here's the only pic I got on hand that shows the grommet. You can see it (black dot) directly over the mounting bracket. I get better pics later.

I put in a 117 ci kit last winter when my rear cylinder liner moved / slipped / grew and caused an oil leak at the head. See http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=17921.0 for details. I'll post the rest of the story later.

Muddy (and anybody else who cares...  ;))

Since you mention ordering the parts, I want to pass on something a friend passed on to me... Chicago Harley (www.chicagoharley.com) has 20% off of the retail price on pretty much everything you can order for a Harley -- parts, accessories, clothes, etc.  If it has a Harley part number they likely have it or will order it and ship it to you.  I don't know what the deal is with the 20% or how long it will last but he told me about it last year and I've been buying stuff from them all winter at that rate.

For stuff where I know for sure exactly what I want (part numbers in hand, etc.) or fairly expensive stuff (tour pack, etc.) I've used them and been very pleased.  Their shipping is very reasonable -- the most I've paid is $17 for shipping on the tour pack but I'm sure it depends on the item.

For small / cheaper stuff that I want a little quicker or something that I'm not 100% sure about I still use my buds at the local dealership.

Don't mean to sound like a commerical for them but just a friendly note to pass along...

Ride On

By the way... it really kills my soul to see that bike stripped down like that... :-X

I hope they take good care of her and get her back on the road soon...  Spring & Summer are coming so it's time to RIDE!!

Maybe we should setup a FLHRSE4 rally somewhere....  wouldn't that be a heck of a picture...  all those bikes lined up side by side..!!!

JW: Wow...and I've only read up to page 5... I'll finish, and I'm sure I'll have a ton of Q's ... In regards to the position of the grommet. So, it looks like the mounting bracket is swung down in the pic..and the groumet is on the top. Seems, that postion would be real visable...or, is there no other locations? Muddy

Majorrocky: Hey, thanks heaps for the link...checked the site, looks pretty kool. I'll have to add it all up & compare. Thanks! Muddy Yea, I can relate to what you said in reference to the tear down....I popped in the shop last week and saw mine in the exact same condition.... :o Muddy, Had a great ride today though...  :2vrolijk_21:

That's just the angle of the dangle in the pic with the scooter over on her jiffy stand. I shot you a better photo this upcoming week. Here's a side angle where you can just make out the top of the grommet. I looks like it belongs there IMO. Hope this helps until I get with her later.

Muddy

Here's a couple of photos as promised. Forgive the bug guts but I rode her hard before taking her to the shop as I knew she'd be gone for awhile.
