:'(Man, you got to be careful pointing out paint problems on other folks bikes.  I have seen some that are TERRIBLE and the guy does not have a clue, problem is they will get a clu when then go to sell it or even worse yet attempt to trade in in....then it will be oh you got one of those bikes....It is tough to tell one that has a lot of pride in ownership that their bike is four or five different colors.  I too just refer them to this site and hope they will pick up on the paint issues.

I thank a guy I met on a York Tour who informed me of the problems and refered me to this site.....I got all new paint, but never saw it installed...too frustrated with the entire ownership of the 'o6...sold it and am waiting for an '07, next month it should be in and I will be looking at the paint job very closey!!!!!

I wish you the best of luck on your 2007. Shame it cost you money and aggravation... never should have happened. The bright side is the 6 speed and the 110 motor.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
May your new bike be trouble free!!

Called on parts yesterday, side covers are in but no other parts.  The Svc. Mgr. is checking with his factory point of caontact who is checking with his paint people and they all think it is crap that this is taking so long but don't have any real answers from the supplier to date, so just like the military its another day of "hurry up and wait!"

Twincam, I can feel the joy in your words and how hyped you are to be right with the world with your new paint & new stuff for your scoot.... I'm happy for you!!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] 8-)

Just learned from the service manager at my local dealership that HD will be sending a complete paint set for my bike. I'm cautiously optimistic about the news. I don't want to get too cranked and then be disappointed if all doesn't go well (you know the feeling). I'm hoping that by complete paint set he means ALL paint but maybe it's just the parts with stripes. Time will tell. Rusty Dwyer is supposed to call me next week to give me the official HD notification of what they will do. Keep yer fingers & toes crossed for me! Just got the call from HD customer Service.... they are replacing ALL 2 color parts! Local dealer is ordering them today..... and so the wait begins. Looks like it's gonna be a great Christmas!!  8-) 8-) 8-) [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_20.gif] [smiley=1syellow1.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=huepfenpinkie.gif] [smiley=multi.gif] [smiley=santa.gif] [smiley=santa.gif]

I also asked for an update on my parts that were ordered MONTHS ago, when I took her in to have the pitted chrome mirrors looked at. The service manager said " dont expect to see the new parts any time soon". "from what I understand, they are painting only a few sets at a time, and having trouble with those".

Harley is so screwed up they are already charging the shop back on warranty like $5,000.00 for not returning the tins that are to be replaced, hard to return when the replacement ones have not arrived.

I think the computer system they use is still two cans, a long string and a typewriter.

this may explain why the dealers are so f*%$#@ up about giving us our paint we deserve, as you can see they only made $675.75 for the paint swap. and look at the total parts. yea, its wrong but you know dealers they are in it for the cash.

Don't get too teared up.  :'(   If bikes are like cars the MoCo is obligated to give the dealer the full parts margin on the entire ticket, so in addition to the labor, they most likely made between 35 and 40% on the parts.  Not bad for a days work and no grease involved either.

if that is the case then I was lied to again [smiley=confused5.gif] but, I did ask what they made off the deal and they said a little over 8 hours labor. get teared up? not a chance hell I paid the 32,000 for a bike with a custom paint job!!!!! just making a point as to why our replacment paint jobs might be taking so long. in my opinion  they should have never left the factory like they were or are!!! Yeah, but it's just funny money anyway .. by the time all the paperwork has passed back & forth the dealer hasn't lost a cent. Can't be too bad, otherwise these dealers would have folded up their tents and gone home a long time ago. ;)
