And last, but certainly not least, here is a great shot of Terry and Suzanne.  Thanks for meeting us at Rider's.  Can't wait til it warms up so we can really pack away some miles.

Henry, it was great seeing y'all Saturday.   :)   I'm counting the days until warmer weather so we can all ride in the wind.  Terry and I didn't get too cold Saturday.

Happy and Safe Trails,

Suzanne

Called customer service again. Talked with John about replacing my tank. He says its gone as far up the food chain as it can go and they will not replace my tank. The factory rep says that nothing is wrong with it and it meets the paint guidelines. I am writing another letter and including photos. Does any know of a any other address other than the one at 3800 Juneau AVE? Or does any one have a contact further up the food chain above customer service. Look at the attached picture and tell me if you can see a difference in color between my tank and saddle bag. This is my first Harley and I am really disappointed with the whole experience. I always heard the rumors I guess they are true.  :soapbox:

2up, Dude.......that is unacceptable.  I ran into the same resistance with the area rep.  I asked to speak with his boss at the MOCO, and as expected, when I spoke with him, he supported his area rep, however, that same evening the area rep called me back, and asked if he could look at my bike again.  We made arrangements, and he looked at my bike with me in bright sunlight and saw that there was a problem.  He ordered replacement parts.  That was Nov 2, 2006.  I just got everything replaced last week and picked it up Saturday.  Everything is good to go now, but it took plenty of phone calls and lots of letter writing.......amongst a good bit of controlling my temper.  I wanted to unload, BAD........so I unloaded here, and kept a cool head when in the presence of the area rep, and when on the phone with the MOCO.  Persistence paid off.  Don't quit.  I was told that I was not going to get new skins.  I got them, and you can too.  Just be the squeaky wheel.  Don't quit.  Never give up, and you'll get what you're after.  At least you didn't have to deal with Phillip at MOCO customer service.

You are right they LOSE this is definetly my last Harley. To many other bikes out there to choose from, And what they don't realize is the new generation isn't as crazy about the Harley style as most of us. So they go ahead and treat us like chit. What do they think we will tell the upcoming buyers? Its like they say one displeased customer is worse than 15 satisfied.
Does anybody know what the cost of  a tank for our bikes is? I remember seeing a price list for each of the parts someone listed. I hope I don't have to buy it myself but I can't be riding it with screwed up paint, and I would hate to sell it to someone else with a paint defect.

Think about this... you could pay (AGAIN - remember you paid Harley for good parts on your bike the 1st time when you bought it... not defective parts) and still get jacked up paint (see my right saddlebag pics) and the MOCO could tell you that what is not acceptable to you is acceptable to them (falls within THEIR paint guidelines) and you'd have to eat it or pay a restocking fee or some other MOCO generated hurdle. Customer satisfaction is NOT their goal - improving their bottom line is. The only way you can deal with it is to not buy anything Harley again. I know this goes against the grain for MANY of our brothers and sisters but it's the one thing you can do to regain some sense of control in your relationship with the MOCO. Each person must decide what is right for them.
Sell your bike, live with it, suck it up and bend over .... it's all about choices.  :soapbox:

Rant over... we now resume our "normal programming".  ;)

I'm not sure how this will work out for me, but the last change on my Tank they had to send it to be repainted.  Not a problem other than time to me.

Can you find an additional flaw (mine had a run) so it is going back.

Maybe the angle would be mismatched color and they would repaint it?  I don't mind the repaint as it has to be totally redone anyway, as long as it comes back correctly.  Just a thought.  Maybe the vendor would have to eat it then istead of HD.

Here's a picture of my tank (which HD replaced). I looked at yours and then I looked at mine and it looks the same. Wonder why they replaced mine & not yours? No consistency in service or judgement.  :-\

Rog, did they give an explanation as to why the difference in service handling (repaint rather than replace)?  Might the dealership be eating this latest attempt on their own and choose not to say anything about it to avoid giving the customer any more doubts about the extended process and handling already endured?

The manager is pretty candid with me and said when he called to get a new one that he was told it would have to be submitted for repair/repaint.

My guess and his was that they are so piled up with tins that they have decided to go this route.  I can't see what difference it makes, either way it gets prepped and painted.  At least with the tank we returned it has no needed metal work, just sand it sufficiently and resquirt it.

I figure I'll just keep shooting it back to them as long as it legitimately is not right.  Hopefully it will be right this go around and all will be well.

Given the overall circumstances and seeing that it's almost a certaintly that others have received tins there were not in fact "new" painted parts you've actually got a bit of a benefit here.  At least you know for a fact you'll get something returned that is newly painted.

Naturally the pisser is the one I had from them was gorgeous if it weren't for the run.  Hopefully the repainted one is as nice and without blems.

You'd like to think that getting an otherwise beutiful part in hand that was released new with flaws would inspire whomever is doing the repaint to get it right this time.  But you know one min wage kid will unpack it, another will take it to a blast cabinet and whomever is actually laying on paint will never have seen what it was to begin with.
