I'm curious, why would you leave your bike at the dealer since December for new tins? I'd ride it even if it was just primer paint while waiting on the tins.

I have a second bike FXSTC that I have been riding.  I took the bike down because they had new paint there to put on that week.  That paint was bad fresh out of the box.  They ordered a second set that showed up a four or five  weeks later and it too was bad.  it turned out they were sending stuff that was painted at the same time mine was and put on the shelf for replacement parts.  Same cloudy issue as all the rest, they were just passed it along.

Then we had the strike and so on and so on.  I have considered going down and getting it back but I felt like having there would be a constant reminder to get it fixed.  If the paint is as good as Caliber promises it may be worth the wait.

Except they're not.  And won't ever be.

Was out riding for a few hours this afternoon.  Pulled in to the local dealership to answer nature's call and get a drink of water.  Parked next to  an 06 SEUC that was noticably bad from 20 feet away.

Without thinking about it beforehand asked the guy sitting on the bike how long he'd been waiting for his new paint.  "New paint?" he asked, "what new paint?"

Immediately thought "uh oh" as by the tone of his voice you could tell the guy thought I was saracastically saying his bike was uglier than hell.  I briefly told him of all that happened with so many people suffering through this problem and that he too was obviously a candidate for new tins.

The guy was still pissed.  Said his bike "looked great" and that he didn't appreciate my "smart mouth."

He did then call his own dealer while he was sitting there though.  Said the service manager was a friend of his who would give him the straight scoop.  The "friend" told him not to worry, there was no such wide ranging problem, said his bike was "perfect" and that the guy feeding him this "bullchit" was a "f*****g asshole" just trying to cause trouble.  Then to emphasize the point he called me a "f*****g asshole" again and flipped me the bird.

At that point I told him he was right, I was mistaken, and that his problem wasn't bad paint.  His problem was a dumass owner willing to ride an ugly ass bike with bad paint rather than accept a little well intended advice and admit he was too damn dumb to see the obvious.  Also said something about the overall appearance of the bike being a perfect mate (dull and ugly) to the appearance of the passenger and offered a suggestion as to him being the last piece in the matched set to ride them both.  Things might have actually gone downhill from there but he got mad and rode away.

I think you'd cause less problems if you said his wife was ugly.

I'd hate life if I were him. I've got a pretty wife AND pretty bike.

Well hell, we all can be.  Just depends on whether or not it's the first choice or whether some asshole has brought it out.  I outgrew it being the first choice a long time ago.  Now if the assholes could just be avoided.......
