This is a really bad picture (it is hard to take a picture of diamonds), but with the new bike and all the goodies I have added, I thought I should cover this base pretty well too...

Ok... I've thought about it and listened to those who are running it this way and looked at their installs... I'm moving mine to the tourpak. The visibility/safety is (gasp) a higher priority than pure aesthetics.  ;)

BTW, when I ordered mine from radiantz it came with BOTH clear and red outer tubes! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Followup post:
I finally did relocate mine to the back of the tourpak and used the red lens (dorked up the clear lens when I took it off the bar under the tourpak). Looks good and WOW!! it made a world of difference with visibility. I watched traffic coming up behind me and noticed they are slowing sooner and stopping further back from my scoot than they used to. That can only be a good thing!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Glad to hear you are happy with the new location, SE...I too am convinced it helps the cages see you better as it is up in their normal line of vision, and the thing is BRIGHT too!!  I feel much safer with it, even in daylight!  I think this is one of the best things owners of 06/07 SEUC's can do to literally cover their butt...I even think it looks good too!!

You are talking about the Diamonds now aren't you?   ;)

I am looking forward to the "upgrade" too and I think the wife will be happy even if I don't get the other "bright" things.  You have to wonder why HD does not consider this as a standard feature.

Didn't realize what I was saying there, but yes, both would work to cover your butt  ;)

Every person I've run into at the local dealer who has one of these bikes wants to know about where I got it, etc. I guess Willie G didn't completely think through the design when he came up with the leather tour pak on the SE's  ;)  Best 90 bucks I've spent on the bike for safety/looks.  It made Suzanne happy too, and that never hurts... I agree with you TCnBham,
I am very happy with my LED light strip too on the Tour Pak.
My .02 is that WilleG and the MoCo go for the stripped down "streetglide" type of look as a "less is more" thing. It also saves them money by stripping down the bikes then charging the same or higher price for them. Then they can make money to bring them back to standard "Ultra trim". I just wish they wouldn't trade safety for style.
I am surprised they haven't marketed their own light strip yet.
If I want an Ultra I want it with as much or more than a standard Ultra. To me Ultra means everything. I wanted the front fender chrome rail with the yellow LED bar that the MoCo sells for the standard Ultra but because my front fender did not have the bolt or tab under the front fender like the standard fender I could not get those things.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
Oh well I made the choice to buy the bike and overall I am very happy with my decision.

VA...I guess each person is different about how the bike looks...personally, I've never cared much for the standard Ultra look with all the stuff on the fenders and around the bags.  When I was first looking for a HD back last winter, I was first attracted to the Street Glide because of it's "less is more" looks, then finally saw an SEUC in Haze and knew then that's what I wanted...I could have been happy with a Haze or what I got, the BCCS.  I think the understated look of our bikes makes them really different, and adding a few tasteful things like the LED light bar, while simple, does not detract from the overall design...same for me with the fender spear...not too much, but just a small accent piece.  The trim rings on the lights give the bike a longer look, so I also added those pieces.  Not dissing anyone who likes the full dressed Ultra, as I've seen some I really liked, but I've seen some I thought were "overdone"...no doubt, some of the stuff makes them more visable at night, but some look like something out of "Close Encounters"  ;)  The front of our bikes are pretty visible because of the spots running (I keep mine on all the time, like most people), but the rear is definitely lacking in visibility...the LED strip is just the ticket for that problem, IMO.

But I guess we did pay more for less, didn't we?

Terry, help a brother out.  You showed this to me on your scoot, but what I didn't notice was if it had brake & turn signal functionality.  Bottom line:  I want one, but brake (intensity gain) and turn signal (flashing segments) functionality are a requirement, along with running light.  Do they come that way?
Did you have to drill holes in your tour pak to run wires?  Into what bundle(s) did you tap for power/signal?

I suppose I could answer the last question for myself if I'd get off my a$$ and recover my tech manuals from their borrower.  :)

Henry,  to my knowledge, they don't make the LED strip like on my bike with turn signals.  It does have running and brake light capability though, and you can order it with only one of the two, or both.  I have both running and brake with the red LED tube and LED's.  The wiring is very simple...under your tourpak liner is a pig tail already there for what would be the tourpak lighting on a regular Ultra.  It's a very simple wiring job.  I removed the left bracket for the FM antenna, which has a hard rubber gasket between it and the leather...I made a small channel in the rubber gasket, shrink wrapped the wires, and ran them in the hole for the antenna bracket.  Works like a charm.

I can provide more info if/when you decide to do this.

Replys 114 through around 135 show the lights in running and brake on mode both.  Along with TC's install info so check back in this thread and find most of the info and links to www.radiantz.com.

My photos also show the LED replacements in the turn signals and brake light, somewhere in the  reply 124 range I think.

This may help.
I ordered the saddlebag lites from HD (will take a while as they match the Autumn Haze color; 20% off at Benjys HD with Jenny).  The parts book indicates these are runing and brake lites.  From Custom Dynamics, I ordered the lite strip and the WIG WAG Back Off kit that will make the saddlebag Brake lites alternate several times before going solid.
http://www.customdynamics.com/signal_dynamics_back_off_brake_light_modulator.htm
I was also ordering the Kuryakyn LED tail lite and Kristen said the Radiantz brake light replacement was much brighter.  It is a "plug an play" module so you can use the same lens cover.
I think the HD part numbers, one of 73103-96 BK (tab housing) and three of 73190-96 will alow you to tap into the plug in the tour pack for the lite bar.  This was listed earlier in this thread or a similar one.

Yep, magicl, custom dynamics is radiantz or at a minimum sell online through them.  They have great service and the lighting is great for our bikes.

Thanks Terry.  I'm gonna hunt for one with turn signals too.  I'll be in touch.

Bagger,

It's possible to make up a strip with turn signals yourself.  For example, with the radiantz strips you get an outer tube and the actual LED strips.  Say you want the total length to be 18", with a turn signal on each end.  You could order a 12" red strip and two 3" amber strips (one for each end), plus an 18" outer clear tube.  The red run/brake portion would be wired as Terry indicated, and each turn signal would be wired to the respective T/signal circuit.  I actually thought about doing this last year and contacted the radiantz folks to make sure the tube had enough room to run three sets of wires.  They assured me there was, and that others had in fact done what I was proposing.

Another method would be to use amber strips on each saddlebag and the red on the Tour-Pak; you just have to use quick disconnects on the wiring for the bags, similar to the setup with the bag lid spoilers.
