Greg

I think you'll be wasting your money.

I have ridden a bike with the FBI type on, did not like. Very difficult to move out or in while riding.

I have mine very low on the highway bars so I can use them as more or less 3 position for my feet.
1. I can use the floorboards
2. I can use the floorboards for my heels and the highway bars for the rest of the foot (very comfortable)
3. I can use the highway bars all by themselves

Personally I think this is the most versatile way to use the highway bars. JMHO

Exactly the way I've got mine adjusted.....I fidget around a lot and the 3 options for your feet suits me just fine.  ;) har!  spyder

I used another brand of the same style highway pegs on my SERK! PIA to pull out when on the bike. You better not be scrapin floorboards while these are extended. Not the greatest location for highway pegs and ya still need the crashbar mounted ones to stretch out. All in all, save your $$$! I removed mine. Wanna buy em? ;)

i had a set of these last year.. took em off as quick as i put them on.  My left foot slipped of one time, foot hit the ground damn near lost control of the bike. I didn't like the position they didn't add any comfort and dangerous in my mind. I gave them away to friend that claims he had a similar experience with foot slipping off. He said never he uses them anymore said he was glad they were a freebie and would NOT pay $$ for them now.

Great Suggestion :2vrolijk_21:  I just went out in the garage and made the adjustment.  I have thought of a different ways to be more comfortable with the pegs changing/modifiying seat, buying an aftermarket product like Greg was thinking about but never thought to just lower the pegs.

THANKS!  I always get so much from this site. :2vrolijk_21:  I can't wait to go ride her

UPDATE:

After the "sugarcoated" comments by Hoist etc.  I had ordered the Flip Wings which were supposed to be released in October, 2009.  There was a significant delay.  I finally cancelled the order.  Still not happy with the standard highway peg set up though.  Finally got a set and installed.  I'm sure there will be differing opinions but I think they are well made, look good and put my feet right where I want them for a long highway trip.  (Leaving Santa Monica for Tombston, AZ tomorrow.)  I also have the Lindby Bar engine guard so I can take advantage of the three positions Dick describes, above.  They are NOT easy to deploy or store when riding but they also don't look like an afterthought stuck on the engine guard.

So far, they are great for normal riding but I have not hit hard twisties yet.  ( Chip?)  Will report more.  Now let's see if I can post a photo from my Droid.   :nixweiss:  Here is the stored position.

Guaranteed to scrape in the turns if you ask me. My guess is you'll be removing them after the first twisty ride.

Heatwave,

When I scrape, I hit the rear of the floor board, on the right and the jiffy stand on the left.  As you can see, these mount on the front portion of the floor board which is higher than the rear.  So, you're probably right but we'll see if it's acceptable.   :nixweiss:

I like those pegs also. My 09SEUC came with the engine guard pegs still in the box, I still haven't installed them because I didn't like the looks of them hanging out there on the guard and mostly because I have the short inseam syndrome and I don't think I can reach them without sitting up on the tank.LOL! Interested in hearing how they do in the twistys. They look like they could scrape especially in a tight switch back. Let us know...

Update:

Rode 1476.5 miles this past weekend, Wednesday - Sunday.  Wed., Santa Monica to Yuba, AZ Thursday, on to Tombstone. Friday, a short ride to Bisby and back to Tombstone.  Sat., to Globe, Tortilla Flats and Phoenix.  Sunday rode home to SM (400 miles) in seven hours.  Sold on the "Flip Wings."  Very comfortable position.  I especially like that the foot position is low.  With them extended, you may touch down in a tight turn but they have plastic skid plates which do not make noise and fold up easily.  When tucked away, I did not touch in the twisties but did not ride very hard.   Bottum line for me is I like them better than pegs stuck to the highway bars....   Just my opinion.

HD 360 Degree mount ...

I stuck them like this ...

Left side very comfortable ... right side OK (for me anyway)

Both mounted equal - I like the look & fit ... but where they are is where they stay ...
no folding (due to the way I mounted them would make them fold wrong) ... but fine just where they are ...
