Just want to clarify something so there will be no misunderstandings if you're speaking of the CVO events listed on this site....... Owning a CVO is not a requirement to attend them as it is not a requirement to belong to this site.

Except for the FXR Gatherings.  Those weenies don't like everyone else.

Don,

I think 3 wheels would qualify also or probably anybody that shows up with enough booze.
Oh yeah, I forgot all about the bikes with training wheels 8) !

Sorry in advance for my lack of recent attention on the matter, but has HD gotten the bugs out of the 110 yet? I have not heard of many issues with the 103, however from what I understand there were many with the 110. This could be a deal breaker of sorts when considering Ultra Ltd vs CVO Ultra

The problems in the 110's were primarily in the 07 and up to mid 08 model years.  They seem to have gotten the issue of the rear cylinder leaking oil fixed.  I've had no issues with my 10, nor with my 07 since I had the "product enhancement" performed on it.   Unless you're going to "Hoistimize"  :nervous: your 110, it should be a pretty rock-solid engine now.   :coolblue:

I echo the positive comments on the 110.  My 110 was built May 26, 2008 and had the "Product enhancements" (I heard my dealer contacted MoCo confirming this build date and the date that the SE assembly changed over to the new gaskets, ACRs, etc).  I now have 25,500 miles or so and have never had a problem related to the enhancements.  I did have to have the rear cylinder ACR replaced, but it was a straight replacement, not a mod.
IMO, the 110 is a nice, strong motor.

HD got the can of Raid out and killed those bugs dead.  Go with the 110.  Also, the 103 in the Ultra Ltd is not the same engine as the 103 Screamin' Eagle engine.

I never consider resale, I always look at what I can afford without creating an issue financially.  If you can afford the CVO, I wiould definitely go for it.  I have had many Harley's my 06 is my first CVO, should have done it a long time ago, ended up dumping as much money in the ultras but still ended up with an Ultra.

Do what best fits your situation at the time. Ride safe.

I ride an 09 CVO Ultra Classic at home (Canada) and bought an UC Limited to ride this winter in New Zealand (they don't sell CVO's in Australia and New Zealand). Both need cat removal, air cleaner, pipes and AFM mapping (SERT in Canada, PCV in NZ). I put an Andrws 54H cam into the Limited and it dynos and runs pretty much the same as my CVO in Canada. After 25,000 miles on the 09 CVO UC and 5000 miles on the Limited I say buy the CVO. It is that much better than the Limited to justify the price. Just my opinion.
