I have seen comments about trade in value for  CVO Bike. Check out what the 2004 - 2008 CVO Bikes are getting in trades or even used prices, not that great. I buy mine to drive not to worry about trade in value or "investment"

I have been riding these POS bikes (I have always loved them, and even owned BMW) for the last forty years even CVO (2004 SE 103" B/B) great bike. And as all of you had made engin mods to it.

I bought a 2010 ULTRA Limited, was looking for 2009 SERGs and SEUC, however for what I was willing to pay I could not find one. Yes I am already doing engine mods, not very costly ones, headwork, Andrews Cams, Supertrapp Fatshotz and Catless Header Pipe.

As I recall some of the comments a CVO bike is loaded with all the chrome and all of the options you would ever want/need and the Limited needs more. How many of you will still spend a more money on more chrome different seat, handlebars etc. So it doesn't seem to matter what model we buy, we still spend a chitload of more money on it anyway to make it "Our Bike". So just go and ride and enjoy.

The previous statement that the 103 is a tried and true motor would seem a valid argument for that motor. Harley has used the 103 for its police bikes, and selected this engine to power their trike. I have a 110, and I like it, but this motor in stock form could be considered overstressed. It runs hot, resulting in gasket failure ('07 and '08). The large diameter bores cut into the centerbolt hole causing oil leakage (until O-ring fix). Its high torque caused some crankshaft failures in '07. These problems have been "fixed," but they underscore the fact that the 110 has pushed the envelope of the twin-cam motor. The 103 may or may not be a more bulletproof motor, but its selection for police work certainly suggests this.

I am very close to committing to a new SEUC next week. My wife and I were discussing it and she asked me if I thought about an ultra classic limited in a custom color. It would be about 10K cheaper and then said we could chrome the front end and add an XM from our current bike and chrome the hand switches and add a heated seat and still be about 7 to 8K cheaper. I was wondering from the group who own an SEUC and have experience on the bike, what the SEUC that make it worth the premium?

I didn't read everyone's replies yet, but I just thought I'd mention that I'm pretty sure the Ultra Limited does come with the heated seat from the factory.  I'd still go for the SEUC.  I've watched my friend trying to make his standard Ultra into a SE, and although his bike is beautiful and a real runner, I lost track when he hit the $50,000 mark in that bike and it's still not a SE.  No matter how much more he puts into it, I'm sure I will always be able to sell mine for more.  After all he's put into it, he still has the stock paint job and when people see both bikes together, they all still walk right by his to look at mine.  I always laugh at him when that happens and he gets a little pi$$ed, but what are friends for, if not to rub things in his face once in a while.

The seat on my bike gets VERY heated after the motor runs for awhile, especially in traffic and 80-90 degree days!!
Maybe that is what you were thinking about??? LOL

Issues with the 110 motor apparently have been solved.  My 08 CUSE, bought in May of 08, has 24K miles and no leaks or other engine problems.  I did have a compression release failure, rear cyl, but nothing else.  Runs smooth and strong.
IMO, if one buys a limited, they should not try to make an SE out of it.  Just do what you and your wallet want to do.

Two comments.

You get the Limited and you are not likely to want to attend the CVO events across the country  :orange: :bananarock: which you will regret.  IMHO, these guys are truly crazy.  It would be your loss.  (That should do it.)

You buy the Limited and all the add ons you spend lots of money on will be worth nothing when you trade it in on your next bike.  The CVO, which will have all that you added to the Limited, will be worth more because you will get credit for all the chrome as a CVO.  That will also be your loss.

But never buy a depreciable asset that you cannot afford.   Good Luck!

Not true.  Anything on two wheels can show up at the CVO events.  Hell, we've had people roll across the parking lots some nights without benefit of any wheels at all.

Just want to clarify something so there will be no misunderstandings if you're speaking of the CVO events listed on this site....... Owning a CVO is not a requirement to attend them as it is not a requirement to belong to this site.

Don,

I think 3 wheels would qualify also or probably anybody that shows up with enough booze.
