Have you got a feel for the seat yet? was the one you got a standard Classic solo, without any additional items done to it? (out of the box if you will) I'm just trying to get a feel for what to expect or should be looking for.

Yes, stock right off the shelf. Have only about 100 miles on it due to the great weather here (rain and snow today). But it is already much better each time I sit on it. I can tell what people have said on this site is true about the breaking in of the Corbin seat.

Compared to the stock seat which was pretty hard on the ass, is the solo in that range when new? BTW did you get the touring pad as well?
As I said before, your bike looks awesome with it on. to the point even if it hurt!!

MJZ will you take a couple pics of the seat up close, please?  In particular, the area where the chrome rail sits in relation to the rear fender.

Also, I know that you can get it without the studs if you go to the factory and have them make it, but when you are ordering it from afar, is it possible to order without the studs?  Just asking for other members here.

I'll be getting mine before I go to the East Coast in June however, I'll probably ride over to Hollister and get it made with me and the bike there.

Just looking at the pics of yours and the Corbin site, I noticed that the seam that runs side to side and looks to be right under the ass. How does that feel, is it real obvious when your on it, in the seat of your pants? Or not. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

 Never noticed it butt (pun intended) I only have a few short rides on it so far. I do have and had to use the gel / fur pad from Eglide Goodies on long rides using the stock seat. After about 100 miles, the stock seat really got uncomfortable.

Mark, just home and checked. I sat on it with thin dress pants and I can't feel the seam at all.

Shows that it doesn't mess with the paint at all but I'm still not sold on the rail.  May just get the seat without the studs and leave it at that.

I'm not going to be too concerned about the tour pack having a back rest, either.  The only time that it will be on there is for my long distance trips.

Mark, I was down to the dealer today to grab a few items, was talking to a few of the mechanics and we got to talking about the seat and other things. I mentioned about the protective film that's on the fender, I had no idea that it's [highlight]removable and replaceable[/highlight]just throw a little heat at it from a hairdryer yank it off, place it on something like a window or whatever and when you want to put your pillion back on just put the film back. No muss or fuss. It's designed not to pull your paint off. Hell I thought sticky mess, then have to get another one when needed. That is so cool, Yank it off polish up that area done deal. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
I did notice that the rubber pads do end up marking the fender, but looks like at little polishing will remove it.
I think I'll get another of the films to put on the fender where the pads hit, so next time I'll be yanking off three.
