I'm just saying, it can and will happen to every brand.
No argument from me Taz, I think I've stated somewhere in the past that the complexity of modern automobiles is such that all manufacturer's have issues pretty much all the time. There is no such thing as a perfect, or even close to perfect, automobile.
The big difference, at least in my opinion, is that many have been painting a picture of Toyota as being this perfect company selling perfect cars for the past 30 years while intimating that the domestics were just the opposite. What folks like Consumer's Reports and the other media types didn't report is the stuff that is starting to come out now. Toyota has had many, many issues throughout the years, and has spent a lot of time and money covering them up. And the general public, not being wise in either the technical side of the business or in the ways of the spin doctors, have fallen for the BS propaganda. I just think it is very refreshing to finally see some of the truth come out.
I still remember back when I did a lot of traveling in my job for a domestic, and I tried as often as possible to rent competitive vehicles to get a better feel for features and quality. I particularly tried to rent Camry's, as that was a direct competitor of the most popular car from my company, and I can honestly say I experienced just as many problems with the Toyota's as I did with my own brand. Windnoise, rattles, driveability issues, fit and finish, etc.
Stay tuned to this story; now that the media and the U.S. government have finally taken off the blinders you are liable to learn a whole lot more about the highly secretive Japanese industry.
