Thats what I thought...... I think for the money and the ability to watch my oil temp. I will install it. Knowing the outside air temp when I am outside seems like a bigger waste than a slightly off temp gauge. I am installing the BigSky cooling fans on my oil cooler and I woiuld like to see what difference they make when stopped in traffic. Regardless of how off key the MoCo is I think given the choice we all would not go metric.

Why does the description in the parts book say it will not fit the SEUC4. It is because of the mismatched face???

Except that many potential bike owners are buying something else or nothing at all. While the economy has a lot to do with declining sales of a "toy" such as a Harley, they are also losing sales to competitive alternatives.

The MoCo is not a financially healthy company. 2009 HD annual revenues dropped 23%. 2009 annual income dropped 90%. 2009 Earnings per Share dropped 90%. 4th Qtr 2009 revenue down 40% which represented a $150 million loss in the 4th qtr alone. Bike sales in the 4th Q were down 45% vs the 4th Qtr  2008.

This is unsustainable performance and the only way this type of dramatic decline reverses is by listening and responding to customers. Something I think most on this forum would agree is not the MoCo's forte'.

It fits perfectly.  Don't know why it says that in the parts book.  The only difference is the lighting.  Not back-lit like the other gauges. >:(

Thanks CVORick. I guess I will order one and try and help the failing MoCo.

I did my fair share by buying, owning and servicing 2 bikes (2003 FB) including the most expensive bike they've ever made (2010 SEUC). Is it too much to ask that the company properly builds accessories that fit the bike and look like they "belong" on a $35,000 motorcycle? Or that they support their bikes with warranties (at least 3 yrs and more like 4/5) that better reflect a quality made product that's only used for half a year (at least in the North).

Maybe it's time for the MoCo to do their fair share to support the company and their customers. Based on this forum and others, it would seem to me that Harley customers have gone above and beyond the call of duty in being loyal to the company (myself included).

I agree with you Heatwave. 100%. I have been giving my hard earned dollars and loyality to the MoCo for 30 years shortly after AMF just about made them gone.
The problem is that they became big business and hired all the big business smart people and stopped listening to the consumer and started counting beans. I have heard that they do monitor this forum so maybe they will get the message. I like you have had every Harley from the Sportster to the most expensive CVO and everything in between. All I want is a oil temp gauge that matches my other gauges and I can't have it. Go figure!

As far as the lighting goes, you match the guage's lighting by putting in the led's.  The dealer installed the "T" fitting when they installed the temp guage, it looked like s%%t, so I changed it and put the sending unit in the oil pan.  I don't know if that made a difference in temp. reading accuracy, but it looks a lot better.

Mine was 100 degrees off, now that I have the sensor in the pan, it's only 20 degrees off  :huepfenlol2:

Just the lights in the smaller gauges, not the speedo and tack.  I think those are sealed units.

So I can assume the factory lights are not LED. Now...what did you use and do you have a link to buy the LED replacements? Does this pretty much solve the different lighting or the lack of being able to read the oil temp gauge at night?
