Best not to get them in the first place!   :huepfenlol2:   :nixweiss:

Seriously,  A friend just got a new Street Glide (See here:  Mem. Day Weekend on CA's Central Coast).  His BSR scratched the hell out of both side covers with her zippered boots and "ruined" the top of both saddle bags by resting her vinyl purse on the top.  Got out all the scratches (except for the very deep one) using a Griot's Garage orbital polisher.  Took the side covers and bags off and had him hold them down while I polished.  First used Griot's med. polish, then fine.  Worked great.  Any good polish should work.  You don't need a power polisher but they are sure nice to have.

Another word:  Cotton no longer touches paint nor glass on my bikes or cars.  Invested in some good microfiber towels years ago.  Worth every penny.  Hope this helps.

Hey Greg, What kind of microfiber towels did you invest in, and where do you get them?
I've been using them as well, but it does seem, however, that some microfiber towels are better than others.
Thanks,

If Scratches are to deep for hand polishing (Zipper Marks) and such or a Scratch that you can take your Fingernail and feel you will most likely have to Color Sand to remove the most of the Scratch. You can do this with 1500 to 2000 Grit Wet or Dry Sandpaper with Water and a Foam Sanding Pad and then Buff the area with a Product like 3m's Perfect It and follow up with 3m's Machine Polish . I like to use the Old School style Wool Pads (30 plus years experiance)but you have to be careful! You can use the Foam one's they just don't cut as fast. I have removed alot of Scratches for my Bike Buddies over the Years like this without having to do any Paint Work it just depends how Deep the Scratch is. The Machine Polish works Good on Swirl marks also with the Foam Pad and 3m makes a product called Swirl Remover that I also reccomend with the Terry Cloth type Rags to wipe up with hope this helps

I use the bundles of Microfiber towels from Target. Come in bundles of 10 or 12. 1/2 are white and 1/2 are grey. About $8 on sale. Use them once on the scoots then wash and use them for other, less critical things or throw them if they are greasy. Cheap enough and good quality.

As Greg wrote in first reply..

Griot's Garage has every thing for detailing cars, motorcycles, etc. Go to their website  "www.griotsgarge.com"
and look at all the goodies. I have no interest in their business other than using a lot of their supplies. I have              both of their Random Orbital buffers (big & little) and three different polishes, Best of Show Wax, Micro Fiber towels,
Spray on Wax, Speed Shine, etc. etc.  I first started using their stuff on my black Cobra show car when nothing else
would make me happy and this stuff did the trick. You can buy a full kit with every thing or one thing at a time.
Once you buy they start sending you a monthly handbook with all their goodies. If you want a buffer just for the        cycle I would recommend the smaller 3" Random Orbital Buffer. These buffers will not burn through your paint
and work wonders getting scratches and swirl marks out.

Good Luck

Try 3M products...especially the glaze made for swirl marks dark colors...apply with clean detail sponge and use only clean, 100% cotton cloths to wipe it off.
