You guys got busy. I called HD about the iPod interface. Was advised it will not stream. You're right to point out that no hand controlls with the iPod in the bag will be a problem. Right now I'm running it from a cable in my pocket. My bad. Not a good look. Riders Claw ipone 4 out in couple weeks but then I've got cables for power and audio and an exposed iPhone.
Am I reading the above that I've got to change radios or send it to Iron Cross to get functionality?
I used to think my old Mercedes was expensive. With the purchase of my Spiced Rum I'm learning new limits to the meaning of mods. I'm driving a motorcycle that costs more than a lot of cars and adding $500 upgrades like nobody's business. Help me. It's either an obsession or an addiction. Might be both.
There are a few ways to get sound out of the IPOD or IPHONE to your radio
1. Use the headphone out jack to your Aux port--phone won't charge and no hand controls, must control on device
2. Send radio to Iron Cross for IPOD/IPHONE cable modification--cable will reach the saddlebags and charge the phone, but no hand controls and must control from device which is now in the saddlebag
3. Install HD BOOM IPOD Module--IPOD/IPHONE goes in saddlebag, hand controls work device, songs show up in display and device charges while connected.
4. Replace the radio with aftermarket marine unit and use Hawg Wired hand control module--Full control and charging of device as above and the cable should be long enough to get it into the saddlebag. Songs will show up on radio display. Radio will most likely have more power and more inputs that the HD radio, however it is more work and more money. ALSO--Double check with aftermarket radio manufacturer as to whether or not it will stream from the web. It might just be ITunes just like the HD unit. I never asked about using it to stream.
