I'm from Raleigh......So what local establishment were you at? I'll make sure to stay away!!!!

If you got RP to help out...your doing good. I have not had good luck negotiating with them, both on parts and a new bike.

Bought my 08 SEUC in July of 2010 w/ 47 miles on it. It had a paint problem with the tour pack. With 1 week left on the warranty, Got the dealer to replace it under warranty. 1 week after the new tour pack install, my "friends" wife decides to get off of their bike on the non kickstand side. You guessed it. My new tour pack was damaged by a falling Honda GW. I was not a happy camper! That happened this past Sept. I just got the new tour pack lid installed this past wknd. Takes awhile to get painted parts from Harley.

I couldnt get a local shop to repaint mine. Cost of CVO paint and labor was almost the cost of the new parts from Harley.

sorry for the mishap man.  My sense is similar to what has been stated. Cvo bikes draw attention.  An old worn but cool bike wont get touched because hes a harley brutha.  Cvo guys are rich assholes, rolex riders who cant be worthy of the harley tradition.   I have one now and I woud like to go to bike nights or concerts but I know particularly nowadays that guys will mess with nice bikes.  So what do we do?  Try to find other cvo riders.  Not many of us around.

The bar where it happened was Scooters in Raleigh, a place I've been going to for years and years.  This has nothing to do at all with their place.  After all, bad guys have cars and bikes too and they can be found anywhere.  I just think I happened on the wrong person on the wrong day, and I've paid the price.  I appreciate all the comments on here, it's nice to have a great group of people to back you up.  I'll keep the damaged fairing for sure, and as someone already posted, the cost of the paint and the possibility of it still not looking 'factory-right' made me decide to just buy a whole new fairing.  I'll eventually have the damaged fairing repaired and use it as either a backup or sell it outright, but for now, I'll just ride it with the big knife-gouge in it and replace it when the new one arrives.  Hope to see you guys out on the road sometime.  All of you are really great people, and I'm looking forward to journey ahead of me.

Spend some time looking around in the Events section of the site.  We're everywhere!

First off very sorry to hear of your accident, we do have to readjust our thinking on places to go and where we park, our bikes do get alot of attention. Bottom line alot of people are jealious, I've been doing this for a long time when I had my show truck with a $15K paint job parking only in places I could watch it or we didn't go in!

Ok, I have to vent here, I know I'm not the only person this has ever happened to, but I bought my 2011 SESG on January 10th.  It was a day here in Raleigh-Durham where we were waiting on a snow/ice storm.  So my dealership got their truck, went to my house and picked up my trade-in (2009 SERG) and brought it back to their shop, swapped my RG mufflers to the new SESG, and then delivered the new bike back to my house.  (Kudos to them for being so good to me)  But since the storm eventually hit and buggered up our roads, I didn't get to ride the bike till this past Saturday the 15th.  So, I bundled up and took her out for a spin, and headed down to the dealership, (Ray Price HD/Triumph in Raleigh) for a quick trip and to get the bike's electric antenna looked at, (it doesn't pick up very well)  Long story short, I stopped at a restaurant/bar here in town on the way home and went in to see some friends, and when I get back outside to go home, there is about a 5-7" gouge dead-center on the front fairing, all the way through to the deep plastic/fiberglass (whatever it's made of).  Now I have to fork over ~ $700 for a new fairing, and it'll be a minimum of a 30-day wait time to get it from HD.  Man, am I ever steamed!

I mean, I work two jobs to afford this, I'm not some sort of condescending rich guy that has to have the latest-greatest stuff, but I do love my Harleys, and I work really hard to afford a new bike now and again.  And to have it less than a week and have someone take a knife to it just really gets to me.  I can't understand why someone would do that to a stranger's bike for no reason at all.  Sorry to dump this here on the CVO beeb, but I just had to type this out and get it out of my system.  For the meantime, I'm just going to have to ride the new bike with a big, deep, ugly gouge on the front fairing until the new one arrives from the factory.  Man does this ever bite the big one.

Ok, I'm feeling slightly better now, thanks for your time.
I sure wish you would have contacted me. I could have repaired and refinished your outer for about half the cost of purchasing a new one. Sure, you would have had shipping charges involved. But the turn around would have been about a third of what it will take getting the new part from H-D. I agree with the other folks on the site, let the insurance company handle it. I do feel for you, though. I never understood why people have to damage other peoples property. We just had a few teenagers in our town vandalize over 25 vehicles in one night; slashing tires and busting windows. Guess what? Law enforcement arrested them and slapped them on the wrists. Thats it! Go figure?

Man, that sucks for sure.  Lot of good input here, especially researching the video cameras.  Not to be the devil's advocate, but the prick may have mistaken your Ride for somebody elses.  That's one of the reasons I display my name on the windshield.  Hope to meet you someday.  I travel to Tilley's in Statesville, quite often.  Also have a good Friend in Durham, who owns a Landfill.  Fatz Fogelman.  Visit him about once a year.  :2vrolijk_21: Later--HUBBARD

I do not think i can say anything that already has been said. All you can do now is just let it go and do not let it bother and eat away at you and when you repair your bike and you are riding it hold your head high and let that loser be even more envious of you. Then the jealously can eat at him.

That sucks. I had a cobra that was knifed. It was caught on surveillance cameras the cops would not do nothing about it because they offered to pay for the damage.

so you collect the check from the perp and then one night the guy just happens to "trip" on his way out of the local bar he hangs out  in.

Spiderman
it was two teenage girls.

Doesn't mean you can't find a way to even the score. There's worse things that can happen to somebody than physical injury. Do you have a teenage daughter ? Ask her "what's the absolute most embarassing thing you can imagine happening to you that you would die if your friends knew "  - - - -and take it from there. Everybody has a soft spot cwright, you just have to find it sometimes
