Used sports car for under $30K? Corvette?
« on: February 13, 2011, 06:30:59 PM »

All right, been 2 years since I bought my CVO... I guess that boost to my mid-life crisis wore off, so I'm looking around for another fix... lol

I am keeping my Avalanche (and my bikes of course!), and want a sports car. I drove my wife's 2010 V6 Camaro to Vegas & back, and when I jumped in my truck again, I knew I had to get something more fun to drive. Been drooling at 'vettes on Craigs List & eBay... but knowing this is a high-end crowd, I figured I'd throw out a feeler to y'all to see if there is anything else I might be interested in. Not looking for a classic; while they look cool, I want comfort & modern conveniences.

Don't want a Camaro, since the wife already has one (she lives in another state, so I can't just feed my need driving hers).
Don't care for Mustangs

Any suggestions? (Or anyone got a 'vette they're trying to get rid of at a great price?  lol)

1995 Dodge Viper  http://www.vipertrader.com/details.php?id=21710

x2  :2vrolijk_21:  I have a friend with 2 of these. One is blown for racing. He took on a Fighter Jet at Cannon AFB with it. The Viper eats Corvettes for lunch.

THat's hot! But it's gonna be a "couple" years before that drops below $30K  lol

I know Vipers are a great "bang for your buck" car, but everything I've read says it comes at the price of comfort. While going fast is obviously great, being comfortable is definitely a priority.

Will have to check out what I can find of Porshes locally... have alreays heard they are pretty pricey when it comes to maintenance.

True...

So I was looking at Porsches, and there are a lot of Cayennes for sale, and I remembered I sat in one at an auto show before and really liked it. There are a lot of high mile ones for sale, so people must like to drive them! Might even consider getting rid of my Avalanche if I went that route.

First, Cayenne isn't a sports car. Second, it is THE most expensive Porsche to maintain.

I suppose value for dollar and maintenance affordability, you cant beat Corvettes.

lol... it is a lot closer to a sports car than my Avalanche... lol

I did notice there are a LOT of them for sale with 60-90K miles on them. On the plus side, I guess that means they are drivable, but on the down side, I was wondering if they started to go to chit after that and cost more to maintain than they were worth.

try and find yourself a used BMW 335 convertible.  Actually, if you want 2 seater and a car that won't break your back when you hit a bump, look for a pre-owned BMW Z4!  Those are a great buy used because they didn't sell very well as new cars.  Too pricey, but one heck of a design.  They are built in Germany on the 3-series chasis so they are longer and wider than the previous generation, as a result, they offer a much better ride.  I am a BMW dealer and we just sold a beautiful white one witha 6 yr 100k warranty for $39,000 with only 12,000 miles!  If I were in the market for a 4 wheel toy, hands down that is the best buy!  Let me know if you need help, I can seach the dealers in your area, plus we have 3 stores in California.
