I hear you, who'd want a "French [size=36]Gaugue[/size]" gauge anyway, most likely only as effective as the rain gauge it replaces.

Those were only supposed to go on Canadian units. Another screw-up by the MoCo!!!

I'm in the middle of this install with my dealer. I spent the whole day yesterday at the dealership on something they thought was only going to take a couple of hours. [smiley=confused5.gif]
It seems that the factory recommened location is very hard to get the oil line crimps on with the adaptor in place. Several mechanics have worked on it and they have one clamp on but think it may leak so they are waiting for a second call back from the MOCO.To see if there is some trick to it or a better way to do it.
They did inform me that the chrome cover on the return lines could not be used but the instructions recommended a second chrome cover that could be used even with the sensor adaptor in place. Then today I was given the good news that this second chrome cover can't be used if you have a hydrolic clutch like my FLHTCUSE. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
The shop said they did one already on a guys bike and he chose to go without the chrome and just leave the oil lines showing. One of the mechanics has a Screamin' Eagle a year or two old and he is wanting to install this gauge as well. They are discussing the oil pan drain plug idea but the have never done that and don't stock the parts needed and as of now don't know where to get the parts. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
They said my bike may be ready sometime tomorrow. OH WELL....

If you use the reducer bushing in the oil pan and screw the sending unit in there you'll not have to do anything with any new covers.  They'll put the stock lines back in place and the stock cover right back over the top of them (that's assuming they didn't just cut them to remove them the first time).

Also, since your "technicians" seem so outstanding in their craft make sure they don't try to screw things in to the normal drain plug location.  They should use the crank plug just to the right of the normal oil drain plug.

Just got off ther phone with the dealer and he is going to a local plumbing store to get the fitting to do the drain pan install! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
Bike should be ready tomorrow with the 1st chrome cover. ;D
They did say they will write ticket up as location per customer request. He agreed it was best location to prevent chance of oil leaks down the road but since it wasn't in the MOCO way I guess they wanted to CYA themselves.  ;D
Thanks again Twolanerider. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Just don't forget to stop and get that extra brass bushing so the sending unit can get screwed in somewhere in the kitchen  ;D .
