Didn't see where the poster stated that he could not afford the trip, just that he would rather not pay those prices.  If everyone cut back A LOT, prices would fall.

Cutting back on the motorcycle is not an option for me at this point....cutting back on the car and trucks is.

I figure we had to cut back on a steak house to eat at a Denny's to make up the difference in gas on the week we spent in Ariz.  It's all relevant....boils down to what are you willing to sacrafice to be able to keep riding? :nixweiss:  In the past, we've shared hotel rooms with a number of members from this forum.  Whatever it takes to keep on ridein! :2vrolijk_21:

By the way, gas has passed $5.00 a gallon at some stations here in Calif. :nervous:

True JC but that was before Terri and Soozie were riding with us all the time, don't think that would work now. Well come to think about it Marty, Paula, Soozie and I did share a room in Reno for st Vibes one year ( WoW! a four sum ) I forgot ..lol.. Hey gas prices don't bother us those bikes of ours are NOT setting in the garage.

Five boats, one with a 4.2l I/O plus 6 outboard motors of varying sizes stashed away UPTA CAMP. Doubtful any of the larger ones will see water under their keels this summah. I've got a 1962 Cruiser's Inc Commander 302V wooden runabout to restore and expect most of my boating will take place working on that in the big bahn out back. Worse still, is that my already cloistered existence while living in Maine will be all the quieter for lack of activity on the lake for the same reason.
I was watching ABC World News last night. Unless I read the chart wrong the USA holds more oil in reserve than any other place on earth. Somebody tell me WTF ? Oil prices are stalling any chance of economic recovery. They are going to put the tourist season and all the money that generates all over the country into the crapper and nobody is doing anything about it.  I am not trying to turn this thread into a political rant so please just allow me this. Oil is strategic to the national interests of The United States of America. We should nationalize all the oil in the USA. Somewhere over the rainbow is a USA not dependant on oil but today, here and now, we still are and we need to do whatever is necessary. Again my apologies for tossing politics into this, but let's face it, you say "gas prices", you're talking geo-politics.

Yes we go the oil. Google Bakken formation in Montana and North Dakota. What the hell are the politicians waiting for. Time to dump the Arabs and make them dependant.

Trip to Calif, trip to Ribfest, trip to 3 other places will not be decided by the price of gas.
Now if there is none, that's another story.

Not to worry, some of these members will figure a way to convert our CVO's to another fuel source and offer up at a group discount.  ;D har.  spyder

Why blame the Arabs?  Look a little closer to home, like Wall Street.  Just like before, actual demand versus supply is not driving prices, the speculators in the markets are driving prices.  And since there is no control on the never ending escalation of greed, it won't be long before gas hits $5 and up in the USA.  I think I'd be more worried about the little folks just trying to get to those minimum wage jobs our economy is producing than I would about the more fortunate who will just have to realign priorities to continue to enjoy their recreational vehicles.

Terrie and I, Jon & Susan have shared a room often.  Terrie and I have shared with others, too.  And I remember one time when the four of us shared a suite in Cambria with Mark, too.  He'll never do that again. :huepfenlol2:

The down side is you have to go to the bathroom to get dressed or undressed......and you have to wear pajama. :(

I'm not paying 37K to have my scoot sit in the garage. Unless gas gets to $50 a gallon. Besides 30-40MPG on the bike is alot cheeper than 13MPG in the truck. I have a 1K trip planed for two weeks after I pick up the new bike.

And they've all started crying over the possibility of giving up some tax breaks.  :-[ spyder
