Dave,
Sorry to hear of the loss of your father, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family. I'm glad that you two were able to spend some time together and share moments that will be with you forever. That time that you two were able to share, remember, laugh, and cry together will always be with you until you seem him again.
As has been said, you story has touched many of us here, and because of it probably changed some people’s thoughts/views. I know personally of losing a sibling to cancer, and was there with her until the end. Her illness in a way was a blessing for us as we had grown apart, as we got older. One of those cases where big sister doesn't want to let her little brother grow up, and he rebels. Well during her illness I was there for her, took her to her chemo sessions, was by her bedside everyday, and did what ever I could to make her feel comfortable. I thank God for this as it gave us the opportunity to reconnect, get over our trivial differences and see how important we were to each other. Talking about her now makes me remember some of the things that she did for me when I was a kid. My first visit to the Washington Zoo was with her, first professional baseball game was with here (Washington Senators), and always took me shopping for school clothes at the end of summer. She was the best big sister a knucklehead like me could have ever had.
