110 upgrades
« on: May 21, 2011, 03:59:31 AM »

I have a 2010 CVO Ultra with the 110 - I'm looking to get more out of the dog :worthless: 110 cu in.  My 103 has more thump.

Any recommendations?  Cams? Heads? Pistons?

Get the heads rolling, a Wood 8, H-D 10.5 cr piston, Fullsac exhaust, 58 S/E t/body with HPI's "Y" manifold, tune it, and let it eat.
Building another one of these potent combo's right now, for a client from the Cleveland, Ohio area. :2vrolijk_21:
He already had a D&D Fatcat, which is also a good choice.

T-Man 625 cams work really well in the CVO 110 with the HD 10.5 pistons.

Hillside:

Do you have dyno curves for this set-up?

There may be evidence of that on www.joescyclerepair.com. :)

Hulk,

True there may be evidence of that cam out there, but again it may also be inflated evidence note no correction or environmental factors on the sheet.  The dynosheet is printed in Actual HP not SAE.  You may want to get that same evidence inflation printed in Win Pep 7 the current dynojet software as well as printed in SAE.  Even STD format would be acceptable, as you would still get a correction factor for the run so you can tell for yourself what is what.

Some other boards have gone to standards because of practices like this.  It really hasnt been a problem here on this site, but you may find this post interesting.

Another question might be what is the cold cranking compression of this motor NOT (compression ratio).

That said, contact www.joescyclerepair.com @ 518-664-7254, and speak with him in person.
He'll gladly explain the shortcomings, and mis-information of the above statement. :)

I really don't understand why some Dyno users don't use the SAE Correction..

It's designed to take out the variables of different atmospheric conditions, so that results can be fairly compared no matter where or when they were taken.

The same applies to Flow Figures.. they should always be corrected.

You have to remember that if the temperature is below 58 degrees or above 96 degrees the SAE correction factors are off in the Dynojet software and the results are not accurate. The original programming was not complete and Dynojet never bought the software update. Had my bike on the Dyno at 52 degrees and the SAE corrected numbers were down 2.4% across the board.

SAE standard for flow data??

Yes.
Anything that relates to airflow into an engine (Dyno, Flow Testing, Injection, Carb, etc) is usually corrected back to a standard atmospheric condition.
The most common standard used for performance and motorsport is Dry Air, 60 degrees F, 29.92" Barometer.

If you use an non-computerized Superflow bench (and I guess most people do), you might not have come across it, as Superflow have always said that the corrections were build into the measurement method.
But.. their new computerized benches apply the correction factors automatically.. as do other software packages like Port Analyzer & Pro Flow.

Yes we have had this discussion before. Is your 115ft/lbs really more than my 110ft/lbs? :huepfenlol2:

I'd like to see before and after numbers with conditions listed to see what real gains on a motor were made. It does sound like the initial proposed mods would work well. When I looked at the link I could not tell what mods were made to the 110 motors.
