I believe that you, like most of us here also suffer from "CRS"! 8)

It's either CRS or CRAFT.
One of the two.

My husband just had a pair of catless headers installed on his 2011 CVO RGU. He bought them off Ebay and kept his stock ones if needed. He wanted to get rid of the heat.

The dealer did the install at the first service and indicated that if he leaves his AC and mufflers stock that the warranty is not affected. We just finished a 500 mile road trip this weekend and the bike runs perfect...less heat and sounds better too.

He says he bought those Xied things but may not install them as the bike is running so good.

You're dealership gave you some bum information.  By removing the CAT, you modified the emission system of the bike, making it non-EPA compliant, and technically voided the warranty.  Having said that, it's incumbent upon the dealer and/or MoCo to prove that any failure being submitted for warranty work, was a direct result of your removing the CAT.  You might as well change out the cores of your stock mufflers or replace the mufflers, you're not going to void the warranty anymore than you already have.

Hi Guys,

What's your fellings on the Jackpot  SS X pipe?, http://jackpotmufflers.com/headpipes.htm, the finish for sure looks nicer than the Fullsac. Technically they look very similar. I have 2011 110 CVO with SE race tuner, and V&H  monster Ovals, and my wife doent's like 400° of cat under her right foot!

Any ideas to help me choose and what do I need to tune with the SERT?

Thx,

Swinger.

Looks like a nice pipe, and having both O2 bungs might be useful IF you ever planned on installing a tuning device or ECM that required wide band sensors.  It wouldn't stay that shiney...it would turn blue wherever it was hot enough, which is no big deal.  Looking at the Dyno charts, it appears to me that the TQ is very good, but drops off dramatically.

The Fullsac header is coated with a black ceramic which doesn't turn blue that I know of.  The TQ curve is a little longer lasting on it as well.  That could be because it is a stepped header   :nixweiss:

If you're going to use the SERT, you're going to have some dyno time involved with either.  Since you've already bought it, you might as well use it...if it's already married to the bike.

I guess that might be true after all it was our selling dealer, but if he is providing the warranty then I guess we can live with that. He did mention as far as he was concerned if we weren't adding more air in or more exhaust out (by staying stock) then we were good to go.

He commented that less heat was better for the bike and that the ECM could make minor adjustments to compensate.

Does Canada have the same EPA laws as the US?

I am not sure we have the same EPA requirements as the US but I know our dealers are just as quick to void a warranty based on after market pipes, tuners etc. as your dealers.

Our dealer (fortunately who is a great dealer) will still warranty a bike if they provide the tuner and the tune. In our case as mentioned, based on our mods (removing CAT only) he felt we hadn't changed anything that would affect the warranty.

That would be the dealerships that don't follow the intent of the Magnusen Moss Warranty Act here in the US.  Which, in short, says that a modification has to be directly related to the failure in order to void the warranty claim.

The MoCo put a new motor (complete) in my wife's bike at 30k miles and a complete rebuild (flywheels, lifters, heads, etc.) on my bike at 30k miles both under the factory warranty (hers is an 09 and mine is a 10) and we both have cams, tuner, exhaust and she has the high flow A/C.  That's the kind of service you get from a good dealership. :2vrolijk_21:

Those dealerships that play the warranty game because a bike is tuned correctly, I believe, is the dealerships that will see more and more business decline........and wonder why.  They don't realize that us owners are willing to travel a little further to get great customer service.

HOGMIKE you nailed it. I have 2 dealers within 25 miles but wouldnt support any of them for the exact reason you mention. Our dealer is 60 miles each way.  :)

All right. This bike is awesome. I traded in my worked 2007 FLHX on a 2011 FLHXSE. I had a 103' with Rinehart true duals and a TMax on my 07 that ran very strong. I enjoyed the tuneability if the Tmax and i am wondering which way to go with my new scoot. the local ND dealer is telling me to run the HD race tuner and whatever pipes i prefer, that is too vague for me.
I actually am enjoying the quietness of the new ride but would like a little more bark. I have read that i can do the fullsac baffles, as i like the way the stock cans look. My question is....
What do i replace the stock header with to get rid of the cat? And when i remove the cat, is it necessary to use a different fuel management system? If so, which combos have been used and with what results good and bad? thanks for the input. RB
I have to say that my dealer listended to me, researched the Fullsac Xpipe and baffles for my screamin eagle exhaust and decided Full sac was the way to go.  He wasn't interested in his profit as muchas my satisfaction.  He's a guy that knows an awful lot, but when he doesn't, he'll research it andget you what is best for you. He will tell it like it is.  I'm talkin' about Mr. Jim Mahan of Treasure Coast Harly in Stuart Florida

IMHO, if dealers treat their customers with respect and courtesy, they will have a customer for life!
If the customer treats the dealership employees the same way, he will have a local business to spend his $$$ at.
It's usually a two-way street out there. It's important to build a good relationship if you don't want to take your business far away.
Unfortunately, not all businesses practice this, and neither do the customers!  :nixweiss:

Did the salesman give me wrong information?  I was in on Saturday looking seriously at a 2011 CVO RGU.  He said that on the 2011 CVOs, the cat is in the exhaust not the header pipe.  Now this guy is no slouch (he owned the dealership about 10 years ago) and he is generally a straight-up guy.  He also offered to throw in an exhaust from a standard 2011 bike while I look into replacing the exhaust CAT baffles with non-Cat baffles.  Is he misinformed?  I searched for hours and couldn't confirm.  I know I can call Steve, but today is a holiday and I am getting impatient (and must stop searching).

BTW - I am the former owner of the 3rd CVO ever built, which is why I still hang out here.  Currently riding '09 FLTR.
