Rinehart Install
« on: May 14, 2006, 01:37:55 PM »

Installed my rineharts this morning since elective riding in a torrential downpour was not going to happen...

...Overall...definately harder than the install of the big radius on the deuce...

I unpack to verify contents:

Instructions should have mentioned that the P-clamp should go on earlier so that it did not need to be spread too far...

Left side complete, instructions should have been better regarding the install of the heat shield.

Next up, NESS Big Sucker and the SERT...maybe after lunch and a movie...needd a break!

Final thoughts, there was some smoke after starting, must have been some oil or something on the pipes.  Did have to re-tighten the exhaust nuts at the heads.

Also, while there, I put the chrome solenoid cover on since I was not prepared to buy a new chrome starter.

WFP,

Thanks for posting your install.  My rineharts are arriving this week and I plan to install them over the weekend.  Your pictures will definitely help.  I also purchased a SERT and will install that as well.  BTW, have you thought about the map you will install?  Are you going to install it yourself or have a dyno tech do it?

I am  going to put in the Stage I map for now.  I have a dynotune scheduled for June 5.

Check for clearance from the right pipe to the axel also!

Thanks for the post.  This should help a mechanically challenged individually such as myself.  Pipes due on the 15th & I've decided to try the Daytona Twin Tec instead of a SERT.  I like the idea of not needing to run off a static map or having to spend hrs on a dyno.

Here's a few tips from my recent experience installing the newest version of the Rinehart True Duals:

1. Completely remove the stock or existing exhaust system a day or two in advance. Also remove the stock exhaust gaskets and starter mounting bracket. (This will help speed things up come install day).

2. Pick up a tube of Permatex Ultra Copper ahead of time as the instructions call for it to seal both the slip-ons and the o2 port plug.

3. Read the instructions thoroughly prior to starting the install.

4. Slip P-Clamp on brake side pipe prior to mounting.

5. Use a torque wrench.

6. Put the whole system on and only snug tight all bolts, clamps.etc. That way final adjustments can be made.

7. Check clearence on the shifter side pipe closely and the upper primary and frame rail down tube. ***You need to have it centered properly about quarter inch on each side as you do your final tightening.***

8. Use a level to be sure both pipe's are positioned correctly and evenly at the end caps. You may also need to adjust your saddlebag's which may be slightly out of alignment from the factory and you'll notice this if they are with the black end caps and script writing.

Took me about 6 hours to complete this project taking my time and being picky. I think I could do it again in about half the time knowing what I learned this time around.

It just doesn't look right w/o some bling there. I definitely understand. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] MoCo even did the FLHTCUSE one worse then the FLHTCSE/2 they didn't even put a matching rotor (to wheel or front rotors) on the back. :o
