Knowing what I know about the Fullsac map I'll tell you it's not the map.  If I were you I'd be looking for a problem with my bike.  MAP sensor?  Exhaust leak?

This would appear to be incorrect since I now have 3 MAPs that do not cause the cold idle issue.

Thanks for your confidence Bro! But it was my blunder. Converting celcius to farenheight can be a bitch. I am constantly making small tweeks my maps in an ongoing effort to
improve them. Anyone who recieved one of my maps in the last month that is having a cold idle miss should contact me. The miss will last about 20-30 seconds when your bike is stone cold. Won't happen again for the rest of the day unless its really cold outside.

Thanks to all my customers on CVO forum for your continued support.

Steve George
Fullsac Performance

Thanks Steve for figuring out the issue.

As much as I would like to give the all clear on this issue I will have to ride the bike with the modified MAP to confirm the drivability which I will not be able to do until Friday. So for now all I can say is thank you to all that have provided tips, advice and even MAPS for me to try.

I currently have 3 MAPS that do not adversely affect my cold idle with one being the stock MAP, one from a member that I do not recall his screen name (but know his legal name) and one from Fullsac. I have high hopes that my ride on Friday will prove that this issue is in fact resolved without some residual problem and I can move on.

I do have to admit I am a little curious (and thankful) as to why MuddyPaws did not have the same issue that I had when he purchased his Fullsac upgrades AFTER me. I know all bikes differ but it seems that a temperature conversion error would be significant enough to have affected him as well.

I will report once I ride Friday and this upcoming Sunday. This should give me at least 300 miles and 2 or 3 cold start ups.

Was just thinking how good this story ends and it dawned on me it was on both sides.  Here's raising a beer to both Steve and gabhart.
gabhart your a pretty calm and cool customer in dealing with what must have been pretty frustrating.  Cheers!

Glad it has all been figured out!

Thanks for including me. I have been through so much with previous bikes. I refuse to start placing blame without giving a fair chance. I knew that the members on this forum along with Fullsac's positive reputation would give me a excellent chance of getting this resolved.

On a cold start I have a slight fluctuation in my RPM. I'm going to load the new map tonight and see how she starts on Friday.

A couple of things I've noticed:  When I first installed the MT7 map in my bike after doing the exhaust system, I had a high idle speed for about 20-30 seconds, then it settled.  When I took the bike in for replacement of the NIM module, I loaded the stock map back into the ECM before taking it to the dealer "just in case".  My dealer is only about 5 miles from my house, so no big deal.  When I got it back home, I loaded the MT7 map again, and it intially did the high idle speed again.  After several starts and runs, it seems to me that the ECM is "learning" the new settings.  Now when it's bone cold, it starts at about 14-16 hundred RPM, then quickly settles to 11-12 hundred.  I always let my bike warm up for a couple of minutes while I put my helmet and gloves on before taking off, and don't turn the rpm's up until it's fully warmed up.

The bike has a "lope" to it when idling, but no miss.  The RPM needle never sits totally still when my bike is idling, nor did it on my '06 with a 103".

I would never expect a Harley to have a smooth idle. There will always be some fluctuation. My problem was a miss during COLD idle which caused the RPMs to drop abruptly during the misses.

Hope the problem is fixed now.  That is the main thing.   :2vrolijk_21:

Update: My bike idled fine this morning from a cold start with a temperature of about 55 degrees. Rode approximately 70 miles with no drivability issues. I still have to ride home (another cold idle situation) and will be riding again on Sunday.

I am pretty confident that my cold idle issue is resolved and will provide one final report Sunday night or Monday morning.

After loading the new map and starting cold I see no difference from the previous map. Woks OK either way.

I didn't think you would since what you described sounded normal.

We had a similar issue with an '09 bagger, mild build. Cold start hesitation, rather than fool around with the start tables, etc, I just gave Fullsac a call and he mailed me a new map to try.
Outcome: customer reports bike starts and runs almost as nice as mine! LOL
He now has a good running '09 bagger and is a happy camper.
Thanks, Steve, for saving me some time on this one!

After my rides this past Friday and yesterday I can safely say that the cold idle issue is resolved with no residual problems. Thanks Fullsac for your attention to this.

I may toy around with Lonewolf's map in the near future. Just no time along with a bad laptop battery will keep me from doing any V-Tunes for now. Thanks again Lonewolf!

Great forum guys!

No problem. They are both the same map, I just adjusted a few tables. A couple of them were to help with the cold start. The reason I suggested a vtune was to dial the ve's in for your specific bike.  :)

After installing all the Fullsac stuff I get a slight oil smell on start up. Ant thoughts?
