Garage door opener
« on: January 07, 2012, 10:31:22 AM »

Just picked up my new CVO EG yesterday. I love the way it looks and rides.  It came with a garage door opener, but no instructions. Does anyone know how to set it up ? It looks like you plug it in the wall, but there is no hand unit to push when I want to open or close the door..
Thanks

There isn't a hand unit needed.  After you plug the receiver in the outlet, you need to run the wire from the receiver to either the wall switch or the garage door opener itself to allow the receiver to send the open/close command to the opener.  After you've done that, park your bike close to the receiver, or have another person with you, press and hold the button on the front of the receiver and you'll see the LED blink, while this is blinking, have your motorcycle ignition turned to on, and then press your Headlight (high beam) switch on then off, the LED should stop blinking on the receiver.  Turn the Highbeam on then off and the garage door should open/close depending on what position the door what in. Hope this helps.

Just a quick addition.....I have to cycle my high beam switch on and off twice for the door to open or close.

where do you have your receiver located?  You shouldn't have to cycle it twice for the door to operate.  On both my SEURG and the SESG3, and also when I had my 07 SEUC, I only have to cycle once for the door to open/close.   :nixweiss:

Does anyone know if the sending unit that marries the garage door unit is vin specific?  I forgot to give mine to the buyer of my bike, and the seller of the bike that I bought forgot to give me the one that came with the bike?  If no one knows, I guess I will find out when I try and pair it up in the spring?

They are not specificto VIN or year model.  My '03 garage unit paired with the 08 and 2010.

You do not have to have the receiver connected to the door opener in order to pair your bike to the receiver.  Working on my new bike while my wife was out and no way to reach the receiver where it was and the bike at the same time.  So I just unplugged the receiver from the door opener, hooked it up to an extension cord for power, walked with it over to my new bike, held the button and paired the bike.  Plug the receiver back to the opener wires and power and all done.

Yep, that's absolutely true.  :2vrolijk_21:  It does make it easier for a one-person job.  Fortunately, I have my receiver plugged in to the back wall of the garage, so I can just roll the bike up to the end of the garage and pair it right there.

Thanks, thought so but I wanted the answer now rather than have to wait and see in the spring

I am having trouble getting mine to work also. I bought the receiver part to pair with my 09SEUC. I can't get it to work. I plug it into an outlet and the red light comes on, push the button and the red light blinks. I have tried toggling the headlight switch on the bike and nothing happens. Tried it with ignition on and with it on acc. nothing. Is the small black short wire on the bottom of the receiver supposed to be connected to the garage door unit or the wall mounted switch? How does it connect? I saw a small plug like opening on the back of the receiver. Beginning to wonder if my bike has the transmitter or whatever it is called under the fairing. Thanks for any help.

the plug you're referring to in the back of the unit is where you need to plug the red and white wire bundle that came with the receiver.  Run that pair of wires to either the wall switch for your garage door opener or connect to the terminals on the garage door opener itself.  the short black wire you're talking about is the antenna.  you want to that to be as straight as possible as that picks up the signal from the transmitter on the bike.
