I have 2011 FLTRUSE and the display now says iPod not respond. I cannot get it to work at all.  I disconnect and then reconnect, turn off the radio, cycle through the inputs, press soft keys. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Tried another iPod to see if that works?

Personally, I think the IPod unit, the NANO is a piece of chit?  I have it connected in my car right now and I am constantly losing connection with the radio.  No vibrations or excuses, just loses the connection.  I'm thinking it has something to do with the plug inset to the NANO, either some units were made and have issues, or maybe the connectors are bad and have issues?  I don't have this problem with my Iphone hooked up or Itouch (sound like too many apples eh?)

No problems with my iPod (earlier nano version).

Was having a similar problem and the it stopped working altogether. I knew it wasn't the iPod. Ended up being that the cable from the saddlebag to the front fairing had been rubbing on the rear tire and it eventually chewed through.

I had a similar problem on my 2010 with the xm. The dealer did an update, and that cured MY problem.

not sure what to say.  could be the ipod unit in some cases and the cable in others :nixweiss:  my HD ipod works great, no problems when i use it with headphones.  when i hook it up in the car, it loosens up and eventually loses connection to the head unit.  for chits and grins, i hooked up my itouch for a while and i never had the problem.  my guess is that for whatever reason the HD ipod unit has an issue with the USB power cord that connects to a radio.  in the car i have a two into 1 plug.  one side goes into the ipod just like the HD interface, the other end has a usb and an audio plug that goes into a specially designed set up in the car.  I guess the next step or test would be to plug the ipod in and maybe wrap the plug/ipod with a little electrical tape and see if that fixes the problem.  personally, i think its a connectivity issue between the ipod and the plug?

Similar problems on my '11 ruse and now on my '12 cuse7.  I stumbled on this 'fix' which works but sometimes takes a couple tries.  At least I don't have to unplug the unit and/or punch the soft keys to get it working.  Here's what I found:

Cycle thru the various inputs with the mode selections switch.  As soon as you get to the iPod then cycle either up or down three or four times like you are changing songs.  That has gotten my to work  but sometimes has taken a couple tries - you gotta be quick to cycle up or down thru the songs.

Something in this setup is no ready for prime time and I'm thinking it is the Harley interface since the '11 and the '12 have completely different model nanos and they both have had the problem.

Yes, it's the HD firmware that's crap - nothing to do with the 'pods.

Yes, it's the HD firmware that's crap - nothing to do with the 'pods.

Mine did it from day one.  Found cycling through the input modes (FM/AM/WB etc) then back to IPOD cured the problem.  It is annoying - I will trying the power down option.  I have another nano - does the same thing.

Another annoying thing I found is that when I pick a playlist - the IPOD doesn't confine itself to the list, just goes to whatever song it wants on the IPOD.  I ended up dedicating the nano that came with the bike, and limiting my list to my bitchin' motorcycle jam list.

I wouldn't hold our breath for a software upgrade.  Most of the car interfaces to the apple devices are crap too.

Yup, they've had plenty time to release an upgrade, but they haven't. At least for you guys in the US, the CB is good.  For over a year after the HK units came out, they could not communicate with the older Radiosound CBs at all, and after several firmware upgrades, they can, but they are Krapp compared to the Radiosound ones.  Over 50 mph you can't make out what's being said.  What a pleasure it is to use US models in comparison.
