MY issue is that he is being very careless with little to no regard for his passenger. If he wants to ride his bagger like it's a Rice rocket all by himself then good for him BUT he put his passenger in harms way.

agree  ;)

All that's seen is a few still images.  Not enough there to know how he's riding or is intending to ride.  In fact from the distance the bike goes after the slide begins you'd have to infer he's not going very fast at all.

We can't know whether he's loping through the Dragon trying to be careful or trying to show off and acting like an ass.  Many of the group here have ridden the Dragon; on baggers.  The simple fact that we're there doesn't mean that we're jackasses behaving like we're on crotch rockets.

I don't know what the guy was doing.  I seriously doubt his intent was to put his BSR in harms way.  By the slow speed we can infer from the collective images I can only guess he wasn't even trying to bust a nut through the turn.  He just screwed up.  Like any of us could and many of us have.  That being so would only say it's great they appear to be not too bad off, that the bike could probably ride away if they felt like that, and that I hope they felt like riding again another day.

Me either.........every time it's a 'surprise'.     spyder Funny but True!!!

I have always worn gloves as others mentioned. When people ask me why I say "what the first thing you do when your falling?" End of discussion!

I'm with Spyderglide, I think her left leg is badly hurt.

My brother's leg wouldn't have looked like this bad if his fatboy had front and rear crash guards when he was T-boned by someone making a left turn into his path.

That's a nasty injury I'm sure it could have been worse, nothing broke?  I hope he is good now.

Yes dirt counts! I first enterend on a dirt bike but in 2001 I broad sided a car on my fxr and took the big leap! No helmet! Got a hole in the back of my head now! knocked me out and the mirrors skined my leg and feet. Back was brused and sore. I was lucky!!!! FACE

Ah man, that's a heluva way to treat an FXR.  But am stoked to learn that dirt counts!  Is there, like, a special secret handshake too?  Or just the funky marks from the body work?  This is awesome.

Since I'm just dirt I've gotta be a Jr. member of some kind.  But I'm cool with that.

As many have said............. that could have been allot uglier.

Anytime I see pictures like that, it reinforces the BE CAREFUL and don't take safety for granted when riding.

Amen to that brother.

Actually, it couldn't have been much worse for his leg. These shots were taken a year after the accident. His leg was crushed by the bumper just above the ankle and below the knee. It was 2 years before he returned to work, numerous surgeries, and 2 months in the hospital. He can get around with a limp now but has to wear a tight orthopedic sock to keep his leg from swelling.

Geez, see his leg still happily unsmashed and all the sparks coming from the rear crash guard (and elsewhere) and it reminds me (again) I built the Road King project without any rear crash guards.  Sure wish those rear Lindby guards had worked with the FatCats.  Always said I'd not do one without rear guards.  The Road King may yet get a less than cosmetically appealing upgrade.

I have thought many times about taking my rear guards off and just use the newer underbag support.
Then I see visions of a scene like this.

Member since 1977 OTB on a 75 sportster. Started on pavement, rode out the ditch till the bike hit the concrete culvert under a driveway. Bike stoped, I FLEW over the driveway landed in grass. Dent in tank where my nutz hit as I went airborn (Superman would have been proud). Three broke ribs. Young and dumb. Never got the damn patch. :nixweiss:

Wow, the chance we take...no matter how good we get at riding and still being prone to be run over and smashed.
I hope the best for him!
