Been watching this thread. I have an el cheapo ebay special dash cam for my truck that I thought about trying to mount on the bike.

Naitham,
the sound on the dragon video was that using the weather proof case set-up or the non-weather (back) case? If you used the non-weather proof back did you have one of them furry sound covers fitted?

i have mine on the crash bar

If you don't mind me asking, where was that video filmed.  Looked like a really cool area to ride -- what was the place at the end of the video.  Thanks.

Is that the September 14 - 16: Thunder in the Smokies Fall Rally - Maggie Valley, NC Festival Grounds or the later event that i see guys discussing on this site the weekend after?  P.S. I love this site, its always nice to get the inside track on stuff.

I'm waiting for the smart phone wi-fi version should be released any time.

Now the site is talking summer '12 for the release.  They're either having some techincal issues, or production problems.  The release date keeps slipping.  I bought the LCD back for mine and really like it.  I'll get the WiFi back pac when it comes out, but the LCD pack makes it a nice compact camera now...that was one of my complaints with the Go-Pro, you couldn't see what you were capturing.  I had some Ebay bucks I had to spend, so I got it for $67 and change shipped.

Another option is the Contour camera: http://contour.com/

I have the GPS version and use the low profile helmet mount. The camera shape lays flat against the helmet so it is less conspicuous. Your body - and especially your head does a pretty good job of damping out vibrations and you have the ability to pan around by turning your head.

The GPS model records your coordinates, speed and elevation as you ride. During playback you can have your course plotted on a map next to the actual image. A lot of guys use these for track day for that feature. You can also use your smartphone as a monitor to align and set up the shot or use the 2 built in lasers.

I am not all that familiar with the hero but I believe they are similarly priced.

It's good to have choices. I may have to check out the engine guard mounted Hero also for the times I don't have the Contour on the helmet...

For anyone who can wait until Biketoberfest @ Daytona, or wants to actually hold the camera/brackets etc. The GoPro folks had a booth at Bikeweek and would throw in the larger battery or the LCD back along with something else, just can't remember what for the $299 price.
Nice guys, booth out at the speedway. Said they would be back in the fall as well. They had setup one of the cameras and had it snap a photo every minute for the however many hours it took to setup there display, pretty cool function, would make for a interesting view of a all day ride.
