Hey CLKKELLEY, make sure the radio has the most recent update in it for firmware. I was already having problems with my radio today and found it was not updated with the latest firmware ver8.0. No more problems now and the MP3 discs show the name and artist like my last bike did.

No. I said I thought the whole bike was sprayed with the orange and the black was laid over it as a candy coat over a base would be. Thats what it looks like to me.

Copout,

How did you flash the new firmware into your radio? And are you sure its 8.0? I pick up my bike Monday and want to be sure. How do I access the version of the software it currently has?

Bottom line. Happy New Owner and will post pics next week when my vin comes in and I can ride away from the dealer. BTW I paid MSRP.

Congrats!  How did you part with the SERK?  Or did you?

And curious as to what team you're with...If you don't mind telling me, send me a PM.  Have a friend, "Fatboy," that lives in Concord and works with one of the Wallaces.  It stinks because I only go up on weekends and he's never around when I'm there!  Have another friend that works with DEI.  Tough life!!!!  Definitely "earn" every dime in that business!

Does anyone have a picture of the red/black tank?  I want to see the "root beer" effect on it!  I think I'm in love with both the red/black and black/orange.  That would be a hard decision.  What does the red look like in the sun?  I know the black will "glow!"  Now, I want to see them in person.  You can see a little of the metalflake in the one pic.  Can the "blessed" PLEASE take pics of your bikes in the sun and post those?  I know I'd love to see what they look like in the sun in comparison!

I was toying with the idea of a Cherry or Black/Blue Berry, but after finding out just the other day that my mom and dad have always wanted an Ultra and that my mom's time is ticking (literally...she's waiting on heart transplant), I decided to not buy myself anything else, but sell the Sportster and figure out how to buy them a bagger!  I half-expected to be chastised for taking chances on a motorcycle when I told them about the accident with DC, but instead they wanted to see the photos and hear about the rest of the trip!!  Not only was I surprised, I was stunned!  Particularly, since all this was happening in the hospital room right after mom was moved from ICU.  Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she was beaming from ear-to-ear as she proudly told each and every doctor and nurse that she was looking at photos of "my daughter's motorcycle trip."  Then, she'd nod toward me and say, "This is my daughter and she has two Harleys!"  When we got to the pics from the accident, my dad casually informed me he always wanted an Electra Glide.  I thought it was a whim.  When I asked, "What color?"  He replied, "Black or Red."  I shrugged and though, "Hmmm...he's at least thought about it."  Then I asked "Standard or Ultra Classic?"  He instantly replied, "Ultra!"

So I asked DC to check with his HD pals on a used Ultra, but after seeing these, I'm not sure I could buy them a non-CVO without feeling like I cheated them!!  It's not like I can exactly afford either one, so why scrimp, right?????  It's only money and you only live once and they are running out of time to do that!!!!   So if your dad said "Black or Red," is it natural to assume the red/black is the right choice?  Or should I show him the black/orange to see what he thinks?
I'm not sure if he'd consider a Cherry SEEG "red!"  I guess they'd be ecstatic with any of them, but if he's been "dreaming" about this all his life, I don't want to screw it up! I wanted it to be a surprise, but I'm not sure I want to take a chance on them not liking it!  Mom will be happy with any color as long as she gets "the Throne" as TCnBham calls it!!!  I could of course take them in with me to order it, but I think showing up with the bike would have much more impact!

I just pray she doesn't ever see the Purple SERK!  If she does, my dad's choice might get tossed!  She's a purple fanatic!  If the blue had just a little more lavendar tint, I might even consider that one!  If anyone gets one and has close-up photos, please post those too!!!!

Congrats, again, GasRat, CopOut, and Sponserv!  You are envied!!!!!  I didn't mean to jack the thread!  we NEED a lot more photos!!!!

 He instantly replied, "Ultra!"

Thanks V.  That sentiment brings back some very happy memories.  My dad's health deteriorated badly over the last few years of his life.  It was heart and then systemic.  Something we'd always shared was an enjoyment of old cars.

He'd always wanted but never managed to afford or acquire a 56 Thunderbird.  A white one, with red and white interior, with a 312 and an automatic, and both tops.  Like your dad, it's not like he'd ever thought about it.

But he didn't want to find a car.  He wanted a project.  Oy vey.  So knowing there wasn't a lot of time left to share on such projects about 10 years ago I had this 56 Thunderbird "project" dropped off by a car hauler in the folk's backyard on Christmas Eve.

We spent the next two years working on that car.  Complete frame off, every nut and bolt.  He then spent his last year and a half or so after that getting to enjoy it as a finished product.  We ended up (of course) with way more in the old thing than she's worth.  But that was beside the point.  Didn't care at the time and don't know.  I've never been one much to visit graves or keep a lot of old pictures around.  But you know who I talk to when I drive that car.

Here's how the old thing turned out:

When you turn on the igntion hold down any two of the preset buttons and the radio will go into a setup/diagnostics mode. On the right side one of the selections will be for software. Push the software button and it will display the version. If it shows ver 7.8 like mine did you need to have it flashed to ver 8.0. You can do it yourself (very easy) or the dealer has the software to do it. I could not believe my radio still had the older firmware in it especially considering the bike was at the factory last week !!! If you need more info on it go here >> http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/moar/en/overview.asp?bmLocale=en_US&locale=en_US&bmLocale=en_US

Now, that's what I'm talking about!!  Great plan.  He's definitely a grease monkey and does all his own wrenching on everything!  He wouldn't let me drive the car out of the driveway until I demonstrated how to change a tire, check/add oil, check/add antifreeze/coolant, check the belts, tire pressure, etc.  He even taught me how to change my own brake pads and bleed the lines!  My ex-husband used to hate it when he'd change our brakes and I'd ask, "Are you sure you bled the lines?"

Now, I'm more confused about what I should do!  Maybe DCFiremann is right.  Maybe a plain jane stock EG is a better plan.  It will give him something to go OCD over!!!!  If he needs lessons, I'll contract Fired00d to get him up to speed!

Well, you guys/gals have made my morning w/ the great posts about your folks and what you've done/doing for them.  TwoLane, that story/picture of your Dad and the T Bird just about got to this ole spyder. Great!!  Good for you....talking to him in that car......and V: I'd go w/ you initial plan of a Cherry '05 or a B&B '04....either one would tickle them so much (the B&B is black enough and the Cherry is the pretty candy red that is 'custom' all the way!  Plus, I've been seeing a good number of those available at pretty fair prices w/ low mileage lately.  Go for it!   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] har!  :) spyder

First one schmirst one. Who cares? I am just grateful I was in the right place at the right time to do this deal. I pick mine up on Monday morning. I believe Copout and Gasrat are riding theirs this weekend.

Thanks so much for the radio software link Copout. That helps a lot. Seems like an easy thing to update.

Still waiting for a definitive answer on why the  production of CVO Ultras has been halted. Of course I am going through all the paranoia of something wrong with the bikes or it could be something as logical as dealers screaming at ther factory not to produce any more until they sell their remaining 06 CVO Ultras. As I understand it the dealers are just recently getting the last of their 06 CVO ultras. Having both in the showroom at the same time where they are basically priced $1000 apart would force some deep discounting on the 06 models. And yes, I will post pics Monday night or Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday or whenever I tear my ass off the new bike.

Don....touching photos, man.  I always loved those 56/57 T-birds...had a 57 Fairlane 500 2DHT for a while.  I'm sure ya'll spent many good hours together building that one...priceless memories.

V..they had a beautiful 07 Ultra in Black/Wine at the dealer yesterday...it was one good looking bike with the new 96 motor in it.  But, I just don't think you could go wrong with the Cherry SEEG.

You guys with the 07's....congrats...whatever you need, you'll find the answer here!!!
