An E-mail Well Worth Reading!
« on: August 24, 2006, 11:15:10 AM »

The following is an e-mail I received today. I felt it so important, I am posting it here to share with any that might not have received it.

Last week I was in Atlanta, Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me
beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest act's of patriotism I have ever seen.

Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camo's, as
they began heading to their gate everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.

Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young
unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us
so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal. Just
when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our
service men and women a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said "hi," the
little girl then she asked him if he would give something to her daddy
for her. The young soldier, he didn't look any older than maybe 22
himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy.
Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave
him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughters name was
Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter, Courtney, missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up. When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it.

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, "I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you." He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying "your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon."

The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event unfolded. As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, their were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an American.

Red Friday
Just keeping you "in the loop" so you'll know what's going on in case
this takes off.

RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.
We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal
media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to
recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops.
Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity
and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday
until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that..
Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every
Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the
bleachers.

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with
acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long
before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the
once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more
than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make
things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers.

Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday.

Ok, it may seem a little to Hollywood to be true but from the tear I am sure is rolling down your cheek, I thought this was well worth passing along.
Moderators, if this is posted in the wrong place, please move it.

There is a commercial that depicts this same event. Can't remember if it's endorsing a product or just patriotism commercial. It does bring a tear to my eyes every time I see it.

Even if it is Hollywood it's still a good story and does invoke deep feelings of patriotism and a heartfelt thanks to those who do defend and protect us every day.

I went to that link and I remember the commercial but it was just the people clapping for the soldiers. I have seen that happen many times
at both the Memphis, Atlanta and Ft. Walton airports. In fact I am usually the one that starts the clapping and everytime almost everyone help joins in. It has become a new tradition like standing for the National Anthem. But the little girl in the e-mail adds quite a touching factor.

Yes, that was a very good email and a heartwarming story. But I'll tell you what really brings a tear to my eye. When finally the president admits that there was in fact no relationship between Iraq, 9/11 and Al Quada. Then I think about the families of 2,600 American soldiers who have not and will not come home. Then more tears when I think about the 10's of thousands of severely wounded young men and women who will face huge challenges for the rest of their lives because of this war. Do I support our troops? Absofreakinlutely. Do I think they have ever been put in harms way in the first place? Absolutely not.

There is nothing going on right now and nothing looking forward that tells me A) that we are safer than we were before the war and B) that there is going to be any stability in the region.

I am quite sure this is going to be a hugely unpopular post but I am sick of our children being killed and injured without a concrete goals and a plan to get the hell out of there. Let the damn Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds figure out there own damn crap.

By the way. I am extremely proud of being an American and to live in a country that lets me express this opinion. God bless the troops.

Have you ever taken the time to talk to active duty military returning from Iraq?  I think you might find their real time opinions quite different than yours about the President, Islamic Facists and their role in 911 and the subsequent terrorists plots.  I have, and to the man I've learned that they would much rather kill 'em there than here.  Just one man's opinion based upon first hand fact, not politics.

The president will never admit something like that "write or wrong"...politics wont allow it...neither would the libral media...the media only cares about the truth if it fits their politacal position. All politicians have that in common.

Wether right or wrong...I believe it is a war that has to be fought...now or later!!!

If someone came up to you and said they were going to kill you and your family...but he didnt have what he needed to do the job right now...would you be waiting and hoping for the best? Or would you do something about it?

ps.I am so glad for our freedom to voice our opinion...and I am glad that you can voice yours also.

God Blesses who he wants!

Cindy, is that you again? Now Mrs. Sheenan what did we talk about last visit? I know it doesn't seem fair but most sane people take offense with your views and you really don't want to go back to Lakeside Tranquil Village. You don't want to make me call those nice gentlemen in the white coats again, do you? So let's get back on our medication and try to stay on them this time.
I'll see you next week at the regular time.

At the end of the day. BLM has a point. A young lady recently received a Master degree for her thesis on the War. One of the facts she stated and proved in her thesis was that the Bush Administration as of the date of her thesis had put forth 26 different reasons for the prescence of the United States Military in Iraq. Interestingly none of them was what BLM is talking about. At the end of the day, no matter how much I detest this President, no matter how much I detest his administration and no matter how much I detest it's policies. The fact of the matter is that the Islamic extremists would be here in our country running their campaign of terror were our military not in their backyard. Because we are there, we draw their fire there and only the members of our military die and not you, me, and our families. I know that, and that is why I do not openly protest this war even though every fiber of me wants to scream out how much I hate George W. Bush and everything he stands for and represents. How much I believe he should be tried for treason because of the way he has lied and lied and lied to the American people.

I might agree with you on that.

Being assigned to THE SPECIAL OPERATIONS DIVISION of THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FIRE DEPARTMENT on 9/11 and spending 3 days in hell at the Pentagon and being involved in a lot of specialized training since that day. I can tell you you are a hella lot safer now that you were 5 years ago. You may not think so but I KNOW FOR A FACT!

If our great (yea right) Persident Clinton had not opened our borders and signed The North America Fair Trade Agreement it might not have ever happened.

Speaking of the American Soliders that have died in the war (over 2600) What about the 3000 plus that died on 9/11??????? I guess you have already forgotten!

If I had anything to do with it the news would still be showing the film of the 2 planes that took down the twin towers! Then maybe the Liberals that are distroying this country would wake up!

Yes you can tell I have been scared by the events of 9/11. If I have offended anyone by this post I am truly sorry. If you agree with me please support our troops and the people in Public Saftey that serve you daily.

Be Safe
