I also agree that us CVO customers should have a choice to order a crate motor.  Why would you spend the kind of money we spend to have a two tone engine bay with an off color engine.

OK fair enough
Just build it. If the RP cylinders are not your choice..
There are some very qualified powder coaters that can duplicate granite and all that would need to be done is get the barrels coated. The stock heads can be used as-is with a different cam (than a SE266) for the torque monster build like a TR590 or do some head work and add a little more duration and lift to leverage the added breathing.
When anyone gets serious about one of these builds (not just bench racing) the kit or the crate motor do add up financially and deliver a lot of bang for the buck. I prefer the factory heads over the SE MVA.

FFT
Consider this if you will
Have one of the very reputable head gurus such as Don work his magic on your stock heads
Stoke it with the crank 4.625 whether you get one from HD or have yours redone...Consider the later and weld crank
use your existing stock barrels and have barrels bored out to .010 over
Shoot for 10.5 compression...
Motor will look the same with the exception of the magic put into it...
Bore standard T/B or get a 58mm and rock on
of course all the additional googies that goes into it...
When you are finished you will have a better motor then what comes standard with a stock 120R

We have a CVO 110"er in here now, that has transformed itself into a 124"er, with a super-charger now in place.
Lock-N-Stitch inserts for the case studs, Timken, 662-2's, 58mm, our heads, RSD clairity covers, etc, etc, and oh yeah............. it is chain equipped.
Not yet completed, as Sumax is putting granite powder on the clys, and then off to Diamond Heads.
This bugger is going to leave a mark.................in the road. ;D

John,
They claim an exact replica.
But about the 124/blower............probably too much power.

Heads barrels and cases powder coated plus diamond cut sounds like ~$1000+ to me. My option leaves just the barrels to be coated and uses the stock cases and heads already granite. The powder coating shop I use polishes the fins but diamond cutting is always an option if the budget allows.
120r with HD parts, RP 117" (already granite) or an S&S 124" bottom end kit both are ways to get there and not break the bank. If the guy is doing a supercharger I guess the bank vault is well stocked.

Any motor can do it if the timing is right, but the the bigger inch motors when you thrash them or power shift you can break the belts pretty easily nearly harpooned Otis playing around a few years back and that was the larger belt for the side cars  ::)     To help eleviate those issues a few friends have been buying the auto shifter from Power Commander and coupling that with their power commanders shift is smoother and faster and you can set where you want it, works off pressure on the shifter and saves belts.

Sport bikes have been doing this too, I have never ridden anything with this on it...Or anything like it. But that U can do it to a Harley if U buy the right tuner, etc. I do power shift on those race days and it would be great to have the ability to shift in this way!! Tell me more!

I have tried three different starters including the HD unit. The current one seems to be lasting a bit better and was recommended by T man.  Can't recall what if is at the moment.  Never broke a belt in 12000 miles, but then I don't do wheelies, huge burn outs, etc.  But I do drive the bike as it was intended. The bike does what it is designed to do, but it gets old not knowing if you are going to make it home.  Maybe i am just getting old. Spook

WE are just getting more refined as we age!!   ;)
I used to live that way with my bikes when I was 16 and until I was married for awhile... But @ 50 I didn't appreciate seeing if my latest fix would work...So new bikes became the norm. and yeah it is really easy to build one into a garage show piece. The anticipation of the build is great, the reality of the build is pinging on hot days, more heat, harder on starters, well all the stuff others have pointed out.... :(

S&S offers a a 124" Hot-Setup Kit, that comes with roller rockers,/shafts, case studs, lifters, forged wheels, 356-T6 cylinders/pistons/pushrods/cams,(.625's can be substituted for the long-legged .640's) that can be used with your cases/heads, and flat-top pistons can be substituted at no additional charge. $3600 Franklins.
You'd need to have those cylinders powdered granite, bore your existing cases/Timken, and re-work your heads.
No muss, no fuss. :2vrolijk_21:

S&S also had a complete powder coating facility in La Crosse WI and I was told that the granite would add an extra 100 bucks to a set of 117 barrels, see no reason they couldn't accomplish the entire task.

I am running the chain on my bike with the 120R  151h.p. 146 tq.   the offset allows me to run the 180 in the rear to put the power down to the ground.  I also use the original cases to I could keep the ser. numbers.   Let Don do his magic on the 110 heads, and Darkhorse do its magic on the crank and cases w/ timken, it will be a reliable package.  just got back from a 4500 mile trip.  no pinging on all kinds of fuel from 11 states with 10.8 c.r.  :)

Yep.
Those OE Heads do work well when attented to.
Just sent a 120R home, in a 2010 FLHX, to Rhode Island with a Wood 9F/66mm S&S Throttle Hog/Borezilla/our heads/Darkhorse crank as the 120R had sissored .016". We converted it to a Timken bearing here. 11.0 cr.
147 hp, 144 ft/lbs, striking big torque very quickly.
Client said it is "touchy". :D :D :D
