See attached picture for my only argument of going the CVO route.
Kind of hard to feel special in a circumstance such as this.
Just imagine what an Ultra with $20k in custom work would look like?

A low mileage used CVO is what I will be looking for from now on...

Just sayin'

What exhaust would you recommend for the mellow but not loud description??

Anyone have any feedback on the 2 into 1 exhaust?

I bought my 09 Screamin' Eagle Ultra used and it had Vance & Hines ovals (NOT Monster Ovals) and I love the sound, Much quieter than the Rinehardt's I had on my 02 ultra, Mellow while cruising, bark when accelerating.

LMAO!  If you don't know what he's doing to the bike, how can you know the price is too high?! :nixweiss:

WTF are you talking about? The OP asked if the CVO was worth the extra coin over the Limited. He also stated he WASN'T interested in boring the motor or any major engine building, so $10K is ALOT for minor bolt-ons.

Like Kingspoke stated, even then he's still not close to what the CVO will provide, which I obviously agree with.  Furthermore, in breaking down the list he subsequently provided, there's an awful lot of 'labor/profit' built in there as well, so trying to build a CVO is not going to work out from a financial stand point, which is EXACTLY what the original post was asking.

So WTF value did you bring to the discussion anyway, smart ass?   :nixweiss:

Mrmagloo, I edited your quote a bit to make a point...hope you don't mind.
For answering the original post question, Trap, you need to consider all that extra "stuff" you would be adding to that Limited vs. what already comes on a CVO.  When you go to trade, most dealers will start at what your bike cost originally then, if you are lucky, give you some of what you paid for the add-ons.  In the case of the Limited, you would be lucky to get a return of 10-15% on that "extra" $10K.  So lets take 15% to be generous.  That $10K extra is now worth $1,500 going into a trade (again, if you are lucky).  If you get the CVO, the extras are part of the total price, not added on.  Therefore, your trade is better going into negotiations and you get more return on your investment.  Will you lose money?  Absolutely.  However, the Ultra Limited with the extras will "lose" more than the standard CVO Ultra.  Hope all this banter helps you to make a good decision and good luck... :2vrolijk_21:

Yes, that is what I am coming to the conclusion on.  Going on a used 09-12.  Just can't do the $40k at this point.

It seems (IMO) that the paint schemes have "tamed" down from the flames and brighter colors from the early years.  Was this due to recommendations from buyers?  I say this in comparison to the Sunrise yellow and two tone green from 2005.

Is there a color scheme that is less in demand in my date range that would be easier to find?

I truly appreciate everyone's input and help.

Hey, here's a nice 2010 :2vrolijk_21:, not even broken in http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=77247.0  , on this site.

I don't know if this is even in your area. 8)

Really it's a new bike!  There are plenty more listed on Cycletrader.  Have fun searching!

OK. everyone has ideas,,,,,,,, but look at it another way!!!
I just stopped at a dealer and he is selling 2013 Limiteds for $23,500
for the2/tones including setup and ftr! Leave it STOCK, along with a
2013 CVO ultra, which you buy at list! Ride it 2 years, and tell me book price!
I don't care which book you use, and give me the dollars, or percentage of lose!

Now which is better?  I love the CVO, but I thing we lose a heck of a lot more
either way!
