Perhaps I'm not doing a good job of explaining but here goes again. I installed the transmitter with an loop antenna about two foot in length. The transmitter is plugged into the alarm system loop located behind the computer. I'm beginning to think LO JACK would be a much better option than the factory alarm.

Very few police departments even have the LO JACK any more. I think that is a waist of money.

Re: No chirp in alarm - "chirpless mode"
« Reply #31 on: April 11, 2007, 09:49:08 PM »

IslandCVO here, a newbie.

I cannot select "chirpless mode". I have a 2007 CVO Ultra with the Smart Siren II and wireless pager receiver II. All works well except that the procedure in the Owner's Manual" on page E-43 will not engage "chirpless mode". I also tried your procedure, but without success.

Do you have any new information that may help me?

I can"t get my alarm to chirp tried many times by the owners manual page 105
I was having the same problem with mine...I just now read 4Stars procedure in reply 8 and 12 I believe, went out and tried it on my bike, and now my alarm "chirps".  :) Thanks 4Star for figuring that out.

BK,
Where do you live?  I live in Virginia and a lot of the police departments around here, and the State Police, are equipped to locate LoJack equipped vehicles...I've not heard anything about police departments stopping equiping their squads with LoJack.

Re: Wireless range: Pager receiver, door opener.

Range - Pager receiver II on 2007 CVO Ultra.

My pager receiver range is very good, about 1/4 mile with some houses and trees between. I have not tried in-building yet.

A friend has a pager receiver II with poor range. I have a pager receiver I on my 2003 Road King with a range of about 50 feet (useless).

My garage door opener range was 12 feet, so I wired in a Liftmaster remote control under the fairing. Range is now about 60 feet.

You are correct Hazer_52.  The directions for installing the chirp are wrong in the manual.

By beginning the process with the ignition on and the key fob present:

Turn Ign off (both turn signal indicators on the dash will flash twice), then

Turn Ign on, then off again (wait for turn signal indicators to flash twice again), then

Turn Ign on.

You should then hear the chirp when the system disarms.  Its a weak chirp, but it still confirms that the system is working.  It will be one chirp for disarming the system and it will be two chirps as you walk away from the bike letting you know it armed.

Too bad the manual on these expensive rigs is wrong.  But what do you expect?

BTW, my dealer told me that the chirp was NOT an option.  Go figure.

OK, tried this on my '08 SEUC and still couldn't get it to chirp. In step 2, where you turn the Ign on then off, are you supposed to wait until it disarms and then turn it off? It shouldn't be this difficult and I really want it to chirp.

Thanks

I've posted this before but if you guys with the Smart Siren II want to get your range up (way up) you can get the the details here. Look about half way down the page. This mod works excellent if you have a tourpack but will help all the bikes if installed correctly.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures showing where the antenna was cut off and the new one attached?

dood,

I've done a bunch of these for friends but I never took pictures. The module, as purchased, has about a 16 inch coax cable coming out of it. The last 6 inches or so is stripped and only the center conductor is left. The factory then puts a piece of heat shrink tubing over the center conductor to "water proof" it. What you need to do is to cut off this center conductor, back to where the complete coax cable is. Then attach the connector to the coax cable. In other words,

turn this
                                           Coax                        Stripped Center Conductor
Module side ===============================--------------------------- Antenna side

into this

Module side ===============================[-   Connector

Does that make sense?

Yea, thanks. That gives me a better idea of what needs to be done. :2vrolijk_21:
