It was Friday night and the forecast called for an above average temperature weekend so what do we do?  Find a place to ride!

So with that in mind I set my sails towards Charleston SC on that warm and foggy morning.

As I arrived in Charleston I was faced with a puzzle.  What would I do when I got there?  Charleston is known for its Southern Charm, Great Food, Historical District, Market Place, Plantations and so much more.

However on this visit I decided cross the bridge and to partake in an experience I had no performed in some time Patriots Point .  Here you will find the home of the Aircraft Carrier USS Yorktown.

The Yorktown (CV-10) “The Fighting Lady” was the tenth aircraft carrier to serve in the United States Navy.  Commissioned on April 15, 1943 at 888-foot, she played a significant role in the Pacific offensive.

Let’s claim aboard and see what we can find!

As we enter we arrive on the ship’s Hangar Bay where we find a number of aircraft.

[Jock]

We even have a display of replica space capsules from the Mercury and Apollo missions.  And you thought you were cramped in a Smart Car?

[Jock]

Now I must admit this next exhibit I did not expect but it was exciting to discover!  And you guys in the other Armed Forces thought you had fun!

Not quite what I thought though…Essex Class Aircraft Carriers

Wait a minute maybe it IS what thought!  Here’s the red light district!

[Jock]

If this room could talk I am certain it would have much to say.

[Jock]

On the Flight Deck we find another assortment of aircraft to be taken in for our encounter.

And of course the Mac Daddy!  If you have the need for SPEED this is your baby!  The F-14A Tomcat with a top speed of ~1,500 MPH!  Let’s see how your turbo-charged H-D compares to this one!
