Looks really good Don! You must be really pleased that the project is finished. Do you have any plans to have a dyno run done after you break it in? Not for the tune of course since the Auto tune should make it perfect, just to know what she does?

I just have a bad feeling that this thread is going to turn out to be a very expensive one for me to keep in my "notify of replies" list.

That engine is simply gorgeous and the mods will make it a real screamer.

Don, thanks for taking the time to give us that summary.  I remembered most of it in the bits and pieces, but that helped me put it all together.  I had forgot that you went w/ the gear drive cams and then changed to the new cams as part of this recent muscle kit.  You will have to keep this scooter forever now.  But, I think that's been the game plan all along, huh?  You and Grover, et al, are killing me.....but, I'm eagerly awaiting any and all updates on your 'new' SEEG.  [smiley=drink.gif] spyder

Thanks Jim.  Appreciate it.  Am quite happy to finally have it buttoned Still have to change a fuel line.  The dealership no longer stocked the braided fuel line so had to order one after mine leaked after its R&R.  But that's the only thing pending right now.

After the weather cleans up again and I get a chance to get several hundred miles on it I will spin it on a dyno.  Take it over to John Goldens and let him do a test run for me.  Just to see what it ended up doing.  But seeing and feeling that the autotune system is performing apparently quite well it is nice to know the dyno run can be done just whenever I want to.  And it can be a cheap dyno pull rather than an expensive dyno tune.

Andy, night before last after it all got buttoned up I rode it for 35 miles or so just around town.  Up and down on the throttle and all light duty riding.  Never above 3500-4000 rpm.  Then yesterday morning another 35-40 miles including a little time out on some rural roads out of town.

First seat of the pants impressions are good.  One concern was that compared to the gains made with the 575 cams and how early they came in that the power band now might not come in as quickly.  In fact it's going to be wider now.  The differences are actually noticable with the bike feeling "sharper" and more quickly responsive to the throttle just about anywhere it's gotten pulled so far.  It's also simply going to have a lot more pull than it did before.  All in all I'm actually very optimistic for how she'll perform once the weather gets better and I get the chance to run it around some.

It's obviously not a "monster" by any means.  But that's never what I had in mind.  Was just looking to optimize the engine as much as I could without splitting the bottom end, without challenging the reliability of the engine and with improving those areas we all already knew to be deficient like the poor chambers in the heads and the low compression and cylinder pressures we started with.  First impressions are that it's going to be pretty sweet though  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

Thanks Rog.  The end product certainly looks nice.  I like it a lot.  Equally important is that I think it's going to run quite nicely.  Most important is that I hope I've managed a change that accomplished both of those things without compromising reliability.  If you get serious about responding to the call of the OCD though take one recommendation with you when you might begin.  If you're going to have work done that involves your parts try to have some spares in hand to send out.  This would never have been worth it otherwise.  Obviously the vendors won't have their thumbs implanted everytime as they did this time.  This had to have been a Perfect Storm of some kind.  But you just can't know what's going to go smoothly or what won't.  So unless there is another bike to ride, or unless you've got the patience of Job, then please plan ahead.

Don-
Congratulations on getting everything sealed up and running [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

The powdercoating & diamond cut look "Boo-tee-ful" together 8-)

You sure should be very happy once everthings broke-in & tuned. Zippers does some fantastic work!!

I noticed you did not reinstall your braided fuel line. Why is that?

Didn't they recomend compression releases w/10.5:1 ratio?

Be very careful when detailing around motor...you'll cut knuckles very easily now.

Again, It looks very, very stunning :o & first class [smiley=2vrolijk_21.gif] :)

Job well done! [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Take care & Enjoy, [smiley=cherry.gif]

Thanks Mark!
Fuel line... Grrrr....  The braided one leaked when it was reinstalled.  The fitting at the tank.  Dealer didn't have another when I went by yesterday.  So it's ordered and the OE black one is on in the interim.

Compression releases.  At 10.5:1 it was a close call that could be selected against.  I wanted to use the colored and diamond cut bridges.  I don't like compression releases so avoid them when not necessary.  The Thundermax setup is supposed to make the bike start even easier.  Couple all that with a good battery and a high torque starter and Zippers didn't disagree with me when I said I'd prefer to live without them if I could.

Skinned knuckles.  Yeap, already been there and done that  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

Lovin' it?  You betcha  [smiley=drink.gif] !
