I just went out and looked at my '07. It feels like the seam causing the problem is far enough away to not allow this to happen, but I'll keep an eye out for it now.
As for the repair: I own a GM (Chevy, Pontiac, Buick) and Chrysler (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep) dealership. About once per week, for many years, we have had an upholstery/trim service that stops at the dealership to repair upholstery, primarily on trade-ins, but sometimes for warranty or customer satisfaction issues. He is able to make small repairs, like yours, with such quality work that it is impssible to see where they were made. The cost is generally less than $20. Afterwards, you might consider applying a rubber molding over the area to prevent a reoccurrence. (Maybe similar to the old black door edge guards we used to see--just more oversized). Most RV supply places carry self-adhesive trim molding of varying sizes that can be cut to the exact size you need. Total repair should be less than $50.
A good dealer would probably even reimburse you through a "goodwill" adjustment rather than mess with the factory...
Just a thought...
