Hey all, finally got engine competely torn apart...other than removing bushings, bearings and the such. I thought it would be more complicated but very simple. It hasn't been long at all since someone has redone this engine, before I starting doing diesel mechanic I worked in a machine shop for over 15 years. There is no wear marks on any surfaces what so ever other than the messed up crankshaft end, even the cylinders didn't have any wear marks. least by my fingers...I used to be able to feel .005 difference in a surface with my fingers. But when I pulled out the flywheels I did see that the bottom of the rods was blue, is there anything special that can be done to prevent that...maybe hi output oil pump or stronger spring in relief? Would you suggest welding and plugging the wheels while I'm having it redone.
