Am I nuckin' futs?
A few days ago, I went to a local dealership to ask about ordering a King Tour Pak and a Garmin 660 for my '12 FLHXSE3. Installed, these two items would have cost ~$3400.

The salesman then suggested that I should've bought an Ultra to begin with, and why don't I trade my '12 SG for a '13 Ultra? I told him no chance. I've put a lot of money into the SG, and it was just about where I wanted it, comfort and performance-wise.
Long story short, they gave me a much better offer than I expected, and I traded my Street Glide for a new Orange FLHTCUSE8.
And I couldn't be happier!I can't believe the difference in the two models; bone stock, the '13 runs so much better than the '12. I can't see how they came from the same company. New, the '12 popped, backfired, stalled, burned oil, and sounded like loose marbles were living in the motor. It was my first Harley, and the dealers said it was normal for the 110s, so I lived with it. Riding the '13 home, the motor sounded like a harmonious collection of mechanical noises. The howling from the primary was absent, there is no piston slap at all, and it hasn't backfired, sputtered, or stalled once.
The suspension is more cushy and comfortable than the SG. The higher CoG with the Tour Pak and increased ride height will take a little adjustment, but that's no big deal. I put 50 miles on the odometer going home, and changed the motor oil. I know, it's probably overkill, but humor me. On my '12 SG, the oil would be sooty black after the first 10 mile ride. The oil in the '13 looks like new after 200 miles. I know because I am obsessed with checking the oil levels after each ride, since I had to do it with the '12 SG.
Everything is not perfect. I forgot how hot these bikes run stock, how quiet the exhaust is, and how clunky the transmission can be. Can't wait to put in some Shock Proof tranny oil and get some decent pipes and a tune done. Also, the hammock seat isn't as comfy as I expected, and I'll need to put on some taller handle bars.
All in all, I am really pleased with my new CVO.
