I'm seeing more Victory motorcycles on the highways in Alberta and around Western Canada. Even the police force here in Lethbridge has switched over to Victory from HD. Maybe Victory is putting a lot of R & D into Indian to try and get it right this time. The new Victory and Indian lineup may even force Harley to retool and get the rest of their products to at least the same reliability level as the 56 year old Sportster. Sad to say that the inexpensive old Sporty has been nearly bullet proof when compared to the Twin Cam models. So maybe we'll see water cooled Evolution motors for 2014...lol

Get ready to loose your lower fairing vents to make room for dual radiators.   :nixweiss:

We'll know for sure in just 23 days!

Good ad.... but.....   Any time a company's ad features nothing but someone else's product the new thing better be damn good or the whole thing becomes a bad joke.  Here's hoping the new Indian is good enough to justify the ad  :drink: .

yes, but in this case, they haven't released the bike to the public yet so they had to do something.....

course the munro tribute video was pretty cool too.

I saw the first Victory Vision I have ever seen on the street, on the Cherohala Skyway yesterday. They may be reliable and all - but the WEIRD insect-like look definitely isn't for me. It made me think of those giant bugs in Starship Troopers!

This very nice Road King with really Old Skool fishtails was sitting next to it... and I snapped a pic! I think I pissed off the owner of the Vision... because I completely ignored his bike! Oh well... to each, their own.

The Evolution engine was indeed bulletproof in the later years. I had a '95 FLHTP that never gave me any trouble... And I ran the piss out of it. They are very simple engines with a single cam driven by a pinion gear right off of the crank, and with many fewer parts than our Twinkees. The only lingering issue with the Evo is base gasket leaks... they just have regular base gaskets and not O-rings like the Twinkees do (although that can be fixed). You have to let an Evo warm up for a few minutes before romping on it, so the aluminum cylinders expand and seal tight to the cases. Romping on a cold Evo is a sure way to blow the base gaskets... don't ask how I know this!  :'(

My first HD was also an EVO RK. No heat problems, no cam shoe problems....and no power. lol

I agree with you on the Vision's design. Maybe they were only meant to be ridden really late at night (when no one would see). lol
The police here have a few of Victory Cross Road Classics on the road. They don't look too bad and not nearly as radical as the Vision.

Even that does nothing for me. I don't like the swooping rear fender, the headlight... basically I don't like the look at all. The classic Harley Touring Look is what I like.

But I'm just a stodgy old fart who rarely likes any new vehicle designs as well as the older ones they replace. I was born in '57, and the '57 Chevy Bel Air is still the one of the most beautiful and desirable cars ever to me. Funny that I've never owned one... the closest I ever got was a '64 two-door, two-speed beater Impala with an oil-burning 283 V8 back in HS... that old POS burned about a quart per fill up! Great back seat, tho!  :pimp:

Know what you mean Ken.  In many aspects I've liked the look of some of the old Indians more than the HD bikes.  So I hope this iteration of the brands is successful.

Don't think it's likely Polaris would try to stand the brand on its own.  Too few bikes and models if nothing else.  Could be wrong but I expect to see them standing next to Victory bikes and Polaris craft of other sorts wherever the company can get a dealer to place them.  That could service a touchy subject.  Something else to wait and see how well Polaris handles the issue for those that might need work done.

Don, my neighbor andI are soon to find out what it's all about.

I will also be very interested in what they are going to offer for and Indian equivalent to a CVO as well as what you get for that base Price Scout.

Here's a little bit more information about the Chieftan:  http://blogs.motorcyclecruiser.com/6798305/motorcycle-accessories/2014-indian-chieftain-expanded/

And here's an interview by Forbes magazine with the VP for Indian:  http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonfogelson/2013/09/17/an-interview-with-steve-menneto-vice-president-of-indian-motorcycles/

Neither the Indian nore the Victory has a look I like.

I've got a Springfield Blue Chieftain on order. Expected in a couple weeks. Trading in my '08 Longhorn. Saw them at the launch in Sturgis and fell in love after riding one.

I think HD really messed up with the CVO Ultras and that caused me to start looking for alternatives. In the "old days" HD only did 3 years of a given model as a CVO and now they've done an Ultra since what, 2006? When I got my '08, there was a huge difference between the mere Ultras and the CVO Ultras. 96" vs 110" and gobs of chrome, part only available on the CVOs. When they introduced the Limited with the 103" the lines began to blur and now that everything has a 103" there is little to differentiate it from an Ultra Limited. Hell, the 103" is a much better engine as a starting point than the 110". I feel they greatly devalued the bikes with this move and if you don't like a paint scheme, just wait a year and see what it offers and it's evident in the resale values of the CVOs.

If you get a chance, ride one. If for nothing the competition will be good for HD and hopefully they will step up their game.

Not when I click on them...the first one may give you a pop up window TO subscribe, but you should be able to close it.  And the Forbes link always requires you to hit the "continue" link in the upper right corner.   :nixweiss:  But I'm using Chrome and Windows 7 Professional, so perhaps that has an effect, though I can't imagine why.

Thanks. I do have to admit that when I first saw the fairing I did a WTF, but then it grew on me, much like I hated the batwing for years and years and it grew on me. I learned where they got their design cues for it and then I saw it - those steamliner locomotives from the 40's and 50's.

Now just waiting for it to arrive and hope the weather holds out long enough for me to get her broken in properly. From what I learned the serialized ones, the first 1901 were gone a couple weeks ago.
