Heading home from the GTG in Santa Fe the long way - doing some sightseeing and left eastern Colorado this morning headed to Omaha. Filled up with gas last night just before I got to the hotel as I was on reserve. This morning after a few miles, maybe 10 or so, the engine started sort of misfiring - just a light 'bucking' then it settled down and ran fine. Did this several times during the first couple hours riding but always cleared up. I suspected maybe bad fuel - no it was not diesel! So I ran that tank down to about 40 miles on the range and filled up again. Still did it several times so next time I filled up I put in some Heet thinking maybe I had water in the fuel and also some Sta Bil just for chits and grins.
Continued to do it off an on and I determined to run the tank really low. So low that the range reading said 'Lo' and as I exited I-80 for my hotel the engine quit. Figured I ran out of gas so I got my spare gallon in my Reda gas can and put it in. Engine started but ran really rough and died a couple of times. Just before my hotel I did completely fill the tank and drove on to the hotel a mile or so without incident but engine just did not sound 'right.'
I've thrown no DTCs at all and I would think if ignition or sensor I would get a DTC. A little concerned being on the road tomorrow with it being a holiday and dealers most likely closed.
All I have to say is that this beast better not leave me stranded!

Any ideas on what might be going on?
