For $110 more then the Gatermans you can get the S&S with only one feed hole to the plunger and no feed to the cam roller.

So which one do you suggest?s&s or gatermans

I prefer S&S premium lifters, but I'm sure you'll find fans of both brands...

No way would I trust a dealer rebuilt engine that has been thru a lifter grenade. Factory re-manufactured to me would be a safer bet. Both are bets just different odds. Possible that a factory reman would have the latest updated parts.

Can you get a factory remanufactured engine with the proper VIN number?

Yes indeed.  I have one in my '07.  Like the OP's engine mine had catastrophic failure (lifters and inner cam bearings).  Once torn down everything was toast - crank had grinding noise when moved and lifter bore was gouged up so cases were toast.  Dealer got ESP to approve a reman engine.  Of course there was absolutely nothing in my old engine to 'reman' so it was in fact a brand new engine.

And if your cases are OK I personally would not be concerned about a reman engine because they are going to stick new components in there.

X3.  So does Robin - my most favorite and knowledgeable tech at Gail's H-D in Kansas City.  My choices were S&S, Gaterman and Black Ops.  He said to go with S&S and I did. :2vrolijk_21:

So other than the lifters do you need to change any thing else. My ESP runs thru 4/15. Bike has 12k. Trying to decide if I should change lifters or wait?

The two items Harley upgraded in production CVO110's back in 2013 were the lifters and the inner cam bearings.  Both were known to fail, and both tend to make a real mess of the engine when they fail.  So if you aren't one of those folks who always breeze through life without bad stuff happening, you might want to think about doing both.

Are these the ones I want?  My builder is about to install fueling ones.

I used fueling on a mild SE255 at they lasted 2000 miles before two of them went south. One roller was really loose with axial play. The other one started to tick very loud. To be quite honest if it wasn't for the loud tick, I would have never opened up the engine to inspect. Could have got really expensive.

I just finished my build with S&S premiums.  My valve train wasn't obnoxious before, but now, it's silky smooth and very quiet.  Chatter was a little noisy for that first start up until the fresh oil was circulated through, but about 5 seconds into it, quiet as could be.  But hey, that's what assembly lube is for!

Thanks Jerry.  I am just debating whether to do it now or wait till I get close to the ESP end date on 4/15.  If either fails now, the ESP will cover but if I replace them now and then had some other issue they may use the S&S lifters and new bearings as an excuse.

Just curious guys, this is a bit off topic, I'm currently on a 2011 103" with 25k miles on original motor with a stage one.  This discussion makes me think I might want to think about checking the lifters.  It seems the stock 103 is easier on lifters than the 110".  I had thought about doing cams, lifters and bearings at some point but think now I'll just stay stage 1 until I replace the bike with a newer model Limited or CVO Limited.  It was stated earlier HD recommends lifter inspection on some interval.  Does everyone go to adjustable pushrods when they swap out lifters or do some go in from top and just change lifters.  I'm not on an ESP warranty so make of parts supplier is not an issue.

19k miles on my 13 CVO Road Glide.
No lifter problems.  Changed cams, roller rocker arms and adj. pushrods as soon as I had 1000 miles.
I will be upgrading to the S&S lifters soon.

A lot of folks cut the OE pushrods out and go to adjustables right off the bat, it saves a lot of time / $.
