Seems like you're taking it pretty well. I'm glad you're OK. Now you can plan all your mods this winter and have their insurance pay for them. Not the way you planned it, but it'll give you something to do while you're healing. Be well. Hoist!

:o Wow, what a story.  So happy to hear that all the safety features on our bikes held up and did what they were supposed to do to protect your body.  And that you were able to hold the bike up under all that pressure, well done!  The bike parts can all be replaced, but you will have some time to go to heal your body.  All our prayers for speedy recovery for both.  If ya get the glide as back up you will have two very nice rides.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Sorry to hear about your accident. :'(
I hope you heal quickly and the bike gets repaired soon too. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
I agree with others in that you should not have to pay a deductable when the other person is at fault. All expenses should be covered by other's insurance unless you are in one of the "No fault" states.

Glad to hear you're OK, Rob!  Looks like the bike's "engine guard" protected your leg from worse damage.  The bike can be fixed...just glad to hear you're up and about.

Rob;
So glad that you are ok, this could have been so much worse. The damage to the bike can be fixed and the leg will mend in time. I'm not big on lawyers but this is a time when it may be a good thing to consult one so you be sure that you have ALL of your losses covered.

Take Care [smiley=cherry.gif]

This could have indeed been so much worse!! That is the biggest reason I am taking it all in stride because I know that I am truley blessed in this situation (hopefully I won't be singing a different tune when it comes to dealing with the local dealer, MOCO and the insurance companies!!)

Not sure why I would need a lawyer at this point. I am a big believer in sowing and reaping. As long as the insurance does what its supposed to do then all should be well. Thats why they call them "accidents" and not "on purposes"  ;D I am just so glad that no one was hurt too bad!! Thanks again for your concerns. I do have an attorney I use that is also a good friend. I will call him should the need arrise.

Those that have been down and those that are going down is the old saying. That being the case, as bad as this was, it most obviously could have been a whole lot worse. Sorry to see the bike beat up and you as well. Glad you're ok and the bike is on the mend. You need to make a claim for whatever other loss you suffered as well against the young lady's insurance. You shouldn't get stuck with the $500 deductible. Did you lose any gear ( boots, pants, gloves, chaps, jacket etc.) I'm sure you've got your medical bills going to them. Did you miss any work. A whole lot of issues. My advice is to avail yourself of an attorney for at least the first consultation. 99% do the first one free. Lay it out to him/her and see what they say they think the total value of the claim is. Hope the leg mends quickly and your Blue Jester is ready and waiting when your leg is healed.

B B

I'm sure the deductable will be paid by her insurance company. Did not lose anything else. I did get a paint scrape on my inside right pant leg. Not sure how that got there but it appears that my pant leg was pinched somewhere amongst the mess at some point.... yipes! Close call.

Rob, since this happened on Thursday you really need to have a talk with Spider.  On the prior Tuesday, right here in the tombstone/destruction/dented-fender section of the board he wrote this:

He jinxed you Rob.  Plain and simple.  You had a hex on you and it came from Maine!

Also, and fare more importantly, glad you're ok.  Said it before and will say it again; you're fine, you pretty much walked away, hell; the bike ain't even all that bad.  All that being so, the rest is just parts and don't matter at all.

I was thinking that same thing!!! ;D Maybe I should send em the bill [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]??

Rob, glad you were able to keep your head and the bike upright.  You opened that car up like a can opener.  Good thing it tore away so easily or the result may not have been this good.

Speedy recovery on the leg.

Let us know how the list comes out at the dealer, that is going to be some serious money.

Rjob,

Thanks Bro! I'm glad it it tore that way as well. As soon as I made contact I "Pulled" firmly (not jerking) in hopes that the bake would free itself from her car without snatching me into oncoming traffic. I will surely keep you guys posted on the progress.

Rob Buddy, Glad your OK, Thanks be to God!!!! [smiley=banana.gif]

From the looks of your pics and the color of her car explains it all! She obviously looked in her mirror and thought the blue object in her mirror was part of her car. If she was driving a red car she would have seen ya! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] ;D

Pray that your leg mends quickly and your scooter too! Good luck on the RG! It really changed my mind seeing Brians Los Dragon and Otis's in MV. They are sweet!

See Ya Bro, God Bless!

I thanked God as soon as I got stopped!! Thanks for your prayers my leg is getting better already!!

Hoist,

Our winter planning down here consists of which route we are taking on our weekend rides!!  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]Thats the reason I am looking into a RG as I know the Smurf may be down for a bit. I figure if I prepare for it I can only be pleasantly surprised if it takes less than 3 months!!

Thanks!!

Mrs.WeCVO,

I'm sure I am not the only one around here that has often wondered "what if"..... what would I do? How would I handle it? Can I really be prepared for a situation like this where you have absolutely no control other than to take the lesser of two evils so to speak. Will I keep my head? Will I be paying attention, etc. I can tell you I am truely blessed!! I would lkike to take the credit but there have been some times when I was riding that I kinda "zoned out" and when I "came to" shuddered to think.... what if a car or dog or deer had run out it front of me durring those few seconds?? Scarey!! I'm glad I had just pulled into some traffic from getting gas so that I ws paying DULL attention. Otherwise.........???

Thanks for your prayers and well wishes!!

Rob
