The air cleaner cover on Elvis you see in the nice ride thread is a modified H-D Air Wing. Nothin real fancy, but it goes with the skull theme of the bike.

I thought all single guys traveled with [highlight]"protection"[/highlight] anyway? ;) ;D What's one more form of protection in the saddlebag? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Gary, there's a distinction here.  An an important one at that  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .  With the one kind of protection you commonly have help.  Even good natured help.  With the other that same help is standing back in the room laughing as she's giving you chit about standing out in the rain.  Somehow, it's just not the same  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .

Here's the latest on the SERK air cleaner as option.  Unfortunately, it's not really an option.

That center piece is entirely different than all the other 5 hole center emblems out there.  Everything that came before has a little bracket that mounts via the center bolt.  That bracket supplies the five tapped holes for the screws to hold it with.

The new SERK cover has it's five holes further outboard first of all.  In fact rather than being holes within the diameter of the lid (as the others are) it's mounting holes are at the protruding edge and the screws capture an open slot at the edge of the center piece.  So the spacing is different.  Though it wouldn't make any difference for this discussion the SERK cover also has the threaded holes directly in the cover.  No intermediate bracket.  Basically the whole thing is different.

So......   The only way the SERK cover could be used would be if both pieces were used.  And, as much as I like the looks of it, I really don't want a center emblem with a large "110" emblazoned in installed on the bike with a 103.  Simply don't have the patience to put up with the bullchit that would ensue when the few who realized its lack of accuracy recognized it and felt free to comment.

Took the red bike out for little run this afternoon and stopped at the dealership during the ride.  There was a SERK on the lot so I got to look it over closely.  No joy.

Now back to considering other options.  Oh well.......

By the the way, the SERK outer cover is not VIN restricted. Sell cost is $130.00.  The inner emblem is VIN restricted though.  Didn't bother to get a cost on it while looking at the parts breakdown.

Don, Don, Don. Don't you know by now that nothing's simple. I can't believe they changed trim for one model (or is it 3 CVO's?)! Can it be reversed? is it plain chrome on the reverse side of the 110" trim that maybe you can have laser etched? What about that guy making the Saddlebag latches? Maybe he can cut something nice for you. I hope you get it to work out. I thought that one would look nice on your motor.

I use just the center piece on mine, and even with action from the hose when washing, it never ships water.  I think the oil keeps it from penetrating.  The backing plate that I have is from Arlen Ness, and is very sleek, and will take a polish well as it is high quality cast aluminum...   that might be an option that would take care of the rear plate inequities....
