in 2000, the year the brand CVO 1st appeared, there were 1550  2000 model year was the first Screamin Eagle, CVO first appeared in 1999.
What year did the Red and Gold Leaf SuperGlide appear - -2000 ?  How many ?
I think the same for the 2001 2002 CVO Road Kings in Purple and Candy Brandywine but if memory serves there was also a CVO Super Glide
Many consider the FXR II and FXR III to be CVO's but they were not branded as such. See below,

B B

According to the Harley Davidson website,

Quote
"In 1999, in response to riders demands for exclusive factory-customs, Harley Davidson launched the Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) program. Providing low volume models infused with an abundance of chrome, the programwas designed to not only fulfill the dreams of motorcycle customizers, but to inspire them. The first two CVO models were the FXR2 and FXR3, with production limited to just 900 units each."

The first year of the Screamin Eagle was the 2000 model with the introduction of the Screamin Eagle Road Glide!

The above posts show how the the MoCo has drifted away from the original idea of offering a low volume, high end bike that had a certain level of esprit de corps and exclusivity.  The things that made the CVO exclusive - color matched frames & inner fairings, assembled by a team rather than on the assembly line, and limited availability are gone.

I was at SMHD giving my brother a tour of the place and happened to see a bike just like my Sunset/silver CVO Limited and was puzzled to see one there. As I found out is was a used bike already back, taken on trade for a fellow in line for one of the new 15's. 15'000K miles asking $35'995. Having mine for only three months and then already seeing a trade in was an eye opener.

I bought my '12 used in June of 2013.  It was on the floor for less than 48 hours, and there was a guy waiting there to snag it if I hadn't bought it.  That '12, now with 27,xxx miles on it, has been sitting at the same dealer since August 1st with a $30,000 price tag on it.  It's one of four CVO bikes in their used showroom.

I'm very glad I decided to trade when I did.

This is a great example of why the used CVO mkt might be slow.  Asking $30k for a used 3 yr old bike that originally listed for $37.2k. Additionally, that used '12 is probably needing a new set of tires (if each set lasted about 15k mikes) at about $700+ for parts & labor.

One can buy a '15 Ultra Ltd for $26k, get all the new bells and whistles, and a 2 yr warranty for $4k less.  Or, pony up $9.3k more and ride off on a '15 CVO Ultra, again with all the new items and a warranty.

I know the owner of that bike.  He traded a 13 CVO limited for it.  He has a CVO RG Ultra coming.  Has a 12 CVO RG Skunk also.  Bike is very well maintained.  I am getting the first CVO Rg ultra from them.

Nope, tires were less than 2,000 miles old.  And it was/is clean.  KBB now is $29,000.....It was $30,000 6 weeks ago.

Exactly.

If you've got a 2013 or older bike, you've got an albatross around your neck.

I would not buy a "new" bike. MSRP on the 2015 CVO'S are way to high IMO.

There's been nothin' since '12 I've really wanted...so, selling is not really a concern...especially with only 30,000 kms.
Next time someone asks if it's for sale...I guess I'll say yes, just to see what they'll offer.

I stopped at our local HD shop to talk about sales...the "c" word....I can hope for  21k on the 09flhtcuse4 with 15k miles on it.
I told the sales rep that was a lil more dollar per mile loss on the bike...yup...
