I know the owner of that bike.  He traded a 13 CVO limited for it.  He has a CVO RG Ultra coming.  Has a 12 CVO RG Skunk also.  Bike is very well maintained.  I am getting the first CVO Rg ultra from them.

I think I know him too and he is a member on here I believe. Is he that fellow that likes to enjoy a cigar at the dealer? If so his skunk is highly modified correct?

I might have been interested in the new CVO Road Glide but I will have to wait. I can not stand the thought of the financial hit I would take making an early trade like that. This other owner is very ble$$ed too be able to do that and I respect that.

Give it a thought:

If you didn't own a CVO and were considering buying one and then came on here and read all the complaints, statements of "I won't own another one" and so on. Would you leap into the pool?

Here's what the internet has to say for my zipcode(I have my source checking dealer NADA at the moment).

NADA
Low Retail - $23,705 - $24,439
Average Retail - $31,190 - 32,246
Suggested List - $36,199 - same

KBB
Trade in value - $23,200
Suggested Retail - $28,480

I'd speculate you won't get a better offer from a dealer than KBB trade-in.  Maybe NADA low retail if well maintained, clean, and low miles.  Good luck.

Nope, tires were less than 2,000 miles old.  And it was/is clean.  KBB now is $29,000.....It was $30,000 6 weeks ago.
Exactly.

If you've got a 2013 or older bike, you've got an albatross around your neck.

I don't share the same opinion.  And, it's pronounced albacross.  Ain't you ever listened to the English language, according to Archie Bunker?  I wouldn't trade my '12 CVO Ultra for a new one, even up.  It really ain't about the money as an investment to me.  It's about the pure pleasure, and all the memories I have of time spent "In the Wind."  To me, that's priceless, and really what owning a Harley is all about.  There endeth the lesson.  8) Later--HUBBARD

KBB doesn't know anything about motorcycles. It might be ok for automobile stuff. Neither one is perfect on motorcycle stuff. They are all there is but both need work to come up to automobile standards. Just my 2 cents.

They are no better or worse than many of the "services" that purport to tell dealers what vehicles are "worth".  It's just an approximation, supposedly based on reported transaction prices from auctions as well as dealers.  Unfortunately the accuracy is inversely proportional to the volume of sales of any particular model.  The numbers for a Camry, for instance, will most likely be more accurate than the numbers for a Porsche Turbo, thanks to the higher volume of transactions involving Camry's.  The same is true in the motorcycle side of the business.  CVO's aren't bought and sold in high enough volumes to guarantee accuracy.

The only thing you know for sure is that the dealer is going to offer you at least five grand less than he expects to be able to sell it for to the next guy.

If you're happy with your bike, I'm happy for you.

But if you bought a motorcycle as an investment......Whoooooo boy.  'Cause I can tell you what your bike was worth in trade at the end of July....And it's lower now that the '15s are out.  Like $3,000 lower.  Seriously, KBB trade-in value is down to $23,700 for your bike.

Jerry, there was a $3,000 spread between my trade-in and what the dealer's selling the bike for.  They've got it marked at $30,500 and it's been sitting for over a month.  KBB is $29,000, and I doubt anyone would offer that when they can get a Rushmore Ultra Limited for less.

My dealer has a '14 rushmore limited on the floor for 24,859 as we speak.

That's insane.  That's $2000 off of a brand new bike.

So much for Harley resale values.....

That would be him.  His Skunk, and my CVO King have the same motor work.  Yes he is, but he plans well for it.

If you know him, we have probably met, as I ride with him lots and have a cigar with him often too.  I Have a 13 Anniversary color CVO King, and the Skunk also.

I just traded my High Milage Skunk, 45,540 miles.  Considering the miles I am happy with what they gave me trade,  They will probably make 2K on there resale of it.  Pretty much cost me 7 K for all the fun those miles brought me, and the relaxation, and great memories.  They were fair on the New bike too, no add on bull crap.

Has for hard to sell, seem the only new CVO he has left of the 14's is a King and a Delux, which are the only ones he has discounted.  He is over 8 deposits on the CVO Road Glide Ultra, a couple deposits on the Street Glide and a couple on the Limited.  Seems he will have no issues selling every one at MSRP.

Well, it's not really brand new.  Maybe it's never been ridden, but it's already a year old.

Still new to me.  My next bike (if i ever get another) will be purchased this way.  Still had zero miles and 2 year warranty.  What did they change on the SGS between 14 and 15? Color? Lol

I have bought a few used CVO's, I have found that I can usually get a used 3 year old CVO Ultra with low mileage (and extend the service plan) for less than what a new Ultra would cost.
