Red Jester held captive in SC
« on: December 20, 2006, 07:00:23 PM »

I wonder if I'm ever going to get my bike. All I've got so far is a VIN.

Bike was shipped 12/7 and arrived at dealer 12/15.  I was told they couldn't let me have it until the paperwork, certificate of origin, comes in.  Too bad HD is too cheap to FedEx the stuff, and relies on USPS.  That was Saturday 12/16. I spoke with the dealer and to be on the safe side, I planned to wait until Thursday 12/21 to go, 600+ miles R/T.

At 2:30 today, I get a call and no paperwork yet. Calls were placed to HD SPOC (Single Point of Contact), or should I say VM left.  I got home and called HD Customer Service and they were going to call the dealer and call me RIGHT back. Right! The dealer got the call, but I guess the 4:30 whistle blew and the place cleared out. No call for Chief.

So here I sit, trailer ready, vacation day planned and approved and they won't release the bike until the paperwork arrives. Here's the kicker, the other 11 or so bikes that came on the same truck are all ready to go paperwork intact. Damn Murphy!

Maybe Friday.

Cheers!

Doesn't that sound a tad suspicious to you?? Hope the bike is all you expected it to be. The wait is tough, but Oh what a feeling when you 1st set eyes on it. Enjoy!

Hey Chief!
I got my C of O about 3 weeks after I picked up the bike. I really doubt this should hold up your picking up the bike especially if you're not going to register it here in the great state. We are allowed 45 days to register after purchase. Wishing you a good night's sleep (yeah right [smiley=multi.gif] Been there, Done that  ;D) AJ

Ambien to the rescue. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

All fixed now.  I will be picking up the bike with or without the CO tomorrow.  If I had been notified earlier that late afternoon yesterday that there still wasn't any paperwork, I would have had more time to work it out and would have gotten it today.

I'll just have to wait until next week to play with it because Saturday early we leave for the inlaws.

Hmmmm. My throat is feeling a little scratchy. I'm feeling kind of warm. Sure hope I'm not coming down with a nasty cold. That would really mess up our holiday travel plans. sniff sniff..... AAAAAChoooo!

"Honey.... I don't feel very good. I think I'm catching a cold. I don't want to get anyone sick. Maybe you should go without me. I'll be fine... just need to get some rest to get over this cold. I don't mind. Tell everyone I'm sorry I couldn't make it. Send them my love. Have a safe trip. Bye Honey. Love you.  Bye  ..........       Vroom Vroom Yeehaw"

Like that will ever happen.

Cheers!

Thanks HarleySailor. I'm sure I'll love it. It's been on order since coming home from Sturgis, so the anticipation has been building for quite awhile.

Mama really likes the idea of a warm tushy. That was what got the final go ahead to get it.

Cheers!

I love our justifications for buying a bike or anything for that matter.  Heated seats have sold one heck of a lot of vehicles and it appears that motorcycles are no different.

I know it certainly has extended our season and comfort for riding two up, before the heated seat my two up buddy was done riding in September, now we get to ride at least into late October.

Congratulations that you are going to be able to bring that baby home.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] So sorry to hear that you are feeling under the weather.  :'( I mean, it is going to be in the high 50s all week, so if you just have to get out of the house a couple of times, you won't be risking making yourself sicker.  I mean, you have the heated seats and grips right?  And everyone knows that you start to feel better with a smile on your face, so you aught to get better real quick.  Where do the inlaws live? Can you ride your bike to catch up with the family?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Thanks MrsWeCVO,

My "faux cold" is better, actually there never was any cold, just my feeble attempt at joking that I was too sick to travel to the inlaws and would be 'forced' to stay home and 'recuperate' with my new motorsickle. ;)

Faux cold or not, I'll be driving to the inlaws less than 12 hours after getting the new scoot home.  Pinkie will see to that.

You have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers!

Congrats on the new bike Chief.  I think you should stick with the faux cold and get some riding in.  I'm sure the wife and in-laws will understand.  Yeh Right!!!

Cheers and ride safe, CVOMOE

Thanks Hoist.

About 30 minutes ago, I got a call from the dealer that the original CO came in the morning mail.  The quarantine has been lifted and she's free to go.

I guess I could have headed over this morning after all.  Today's forecast is for showers and tomorrow they are calling for 100% chance of rain.  I was really hoping for clear skies for the visual inspection. I guess that's the way it goes this time of year.

Cheers!
