I like what I am seeing/hearing that the 2014 110CID engine has the latest generation Screamin Eagle (not OEM) hydraulic lifters with no documented failures!  This concurs with everyone I've talked to and read.

If I choose to replace the lifters too, is everyone okay with Feuling HP+ LIFTERS HYDRAULIC ROLLER LIFTERS - Part# 4000, to match my Feuling Reaper 574 camshaft?

http://www.feulingparts.com/products/Lifters/Twin%20Cam%2099%20-%2014,%20Sportster%20And%20Buell%2000%20-%2014/4000

Thanks,   i used the fueling reaper 574 cam also, but i used s@s premium lifters and s@s quickee adjustables with the cover kit ,also replaced the cam bearings while in there

Just curious, are you going to get it dyno tuned or just let the auto tune work its magic?  :juggle2:

According to H-D's website (parts section). The latest Screamin Eagle compensator is standard equip. on big twins now, too.

Screw it, I ordered the lifters too!

S&S Cycle Premium High-Performance Tappet without HL2T Kit 330-0175

So, everything will be new.  Cams, lifters, push rods, inner cam bearings, outer cam bearings, o-rings, and gaskets.  Even the frick'in cam bolts, washers, and snap ring (in the Feuling 2070 kit).

Fatboy, I was planning on staying with H-D Synthetic Oil through my next two prepaid service intervals at the dealer.  Hopefully, my Jim's Forced Flow Cylinder Cooler will give the oil a fighting chance.

Internet rumor has it that many of the known lifters (and there are dozens) are just branded individually to suit but all (or most) come from few manufacturing sources.....such as Hylift-Johnson who makes S&S as well as (surprise, surprise) Jim's and HD amongst a host of others.

While it wouldn't surprise me that there are few manufacturers, it still leaves open the possibility that the factory uses different materials, coatings, processes, and designs for each customer, as specified by the contract.  So a run of lifters for S&S could be of much higher quality overall than those made for H-D.  Don't most of us assume (yeah, I know) that SE lifters are better quality than the "base" level?

2014 110" motors do have SE Lifters part # 18572-13, my concern would be the manufacturer. If it's the same design as the Jims/SE, only from a different factory, still suspect IMO. Anyone know who makes the current SE?

I hesitated to comment earlier regarding keeping the old lifters vs new.  I think you made a smart choice...better safe than sorry and not that much more $$$.  Sounds like a great Xmas present.

+1 Good choice. You'll already have the engine open. Maybe everything would be fine, but if not, you're opening it up again.

The 18572-13 SE lifter is not the same design as the previous JIMS/SE lifter.  The current SE lifters "feature large high capacity needles in the roller bearing assembly to improve reliability when operating with high lift cams, high pressure valve springs and in high RPM applications. The 25% larger needle bearings increase the dynamic load rating by approximately 20% when compared to the Original Equipment Twin Cam tappets. The unique design delivers superior tappet life in performance applications" to quote the literature.  I don't know of a single failure of this design SE lifter that is attributable solely to the lifter.

I'm not planning on cams since I'm happy with the results from my new pipe and tune (click on pdf to see dyno print), but if I were to do them this is comforting news if it is true. Hell it's comforting since I'm leaving everything alone, too.
