Everyone has their tastes and thus there are many different bikes and color schemes - then add the modifications!  I liked a teal colored bike and my son ended up getting it.  He said everyone told him it was a girl's color too. He liked the bike but could never get past it was a girls color. I told him why do even care. If you like it that is all that matters! I think as I get older I am much worse and not giving a s..t what others think and was always that way to begin with! HA!

Well we rode them Saturday and we all were impressed. I rode the Vintage and my wife the Chieftain. Her initial comment was that i bought one I would have to buy her one. My buddy and his wife tested the fully dressed Roadmaster and they liked it also commenting that it might outrun my CVO Limited and came with power locks and chrome for $10'000.00 less than Harley. Darn they are smooth riding and I swerved TOWARDS every holes instead of away like I always do just to test the thing out. Low end power is good and smooth and it feels like it does not lug much on low rpm acceleration.

I know this is a Harley forum and fully expect that most will prefer the Harley for all kinds of reason so to each his own but I bought one. Did not trade in a Harley just added Indian to the stable. Oh and the dealer was much more accommodating than any Harley dealer was when it came to the price negotiations. I told them they know how to sell. Will try to post the pic.

After you ride one it is much more difficult to be critical. I like Harley and appreciate "heritage" but a motorcycle is a thing that rides down the road not an idea or philosophy. Having three Harleys in the garage i proffered to mix it up a little.

Last photo looks better than the photo shop one I think blue is the real color not pee green. I don't mind them but I agree with your wife its a girls color, may be all that leather that gives it that appearance, not a big fan of leather bags especially brown ones. Then again it is to each his own if you get one you will enjoy it.

Is it my imagination or does it seem to be "this is fricken stupid/ugly/blah blah" running amuck lately?

Personally, I'm not a fan because I didn't care for the layout of the controls.  That's always been the thing that saved me from leaving Harley.  Silly little thing but really, since I don't ride like a fuse is lit on my tailpipe and I like my gadgets I want something that is comfortable and intuitive for me while paying attention to the road.

I suppose I could've said you're stupid for wanting to ride a bike with controls different than what I, the almighty and powerful OZ deem to be best.  But I'd think maybe respecting that opinions vary and giving some constructive criticism that one could then look at might be helpful.  Like the dealer network... Excellent point and well worth looking at.  For me I'd have to ride an hour for service, whichever of two dealers I'd choose from.

Here's a point to consider on "real heritage and so forth".  When some of us long time CVO owners bought our bikes (Or our first CVOs) they were actually hand assembled in a separate facility behind the main plant in York.  Then the Johnson Control Bean Counter came in and they're all assembled on the same line interspersed with every other Touring and Softail.  By the argument of "Why would you want an Indian when its not a real Indian" then I'd say why would you want one of those new CVOs, they're not "really custom".

I'd answer my own facetious question: "Because I'm an individual and I like it."  Seems like a good enough reason to ride an Indian when Polaris has done a lot more listening to its customer base than Harley has in the last 5 (10?) years.

Ugly to one is lovely to another. Just look around at the women you see married and ask why did that guy pick her? I can't explain the buying of this color and if you would have asked me ahead of time if i would buy a baby blue motorcycle i most likely would have said no, but when i first saw it it struck me hard. Matters of the heart are not easily explained by the mind. Words are even more difficult. I had a friend that was buying a Bentley GT and was having trouble choosing a color. I told him that was because he had not even seen the right one yet. When you see "your" bike you will know it.

During the months I live in San Diego, I ride with a group of folks that are not by design all Harley riders. One guy has three Victorys. Another recently purchased a new Indian that is HUGE. Total weight is close to 1,200lbs. The design is very unique and in my opinion, looks like what an Indian would look like today had the orginal Indian Motorcycle Co continued to thrive. I believe that like H-D they would have continued to hold onto the past as regards styling while moving forward engineering wise. This bike is not for me for two reasons. A) lack of a worldwide dealer network like H-D B) The weight. That's just nuts. Color wise, it's a personal thing. The green bike that's getting knocked around on this thread is actually kind retro cool (IMO) even though green is just not my thing.
Time will tell on this iteration of the Indian. I don't think it's a negative that Polaris is involved. They have huge resources and if it's gonna surivive then it needs those resources. CMC could not weather the storm of warranty repairs. Same thing with the outfit that Bransom Richard was spokesperson for. Ultimately that has done in all prior efforts. Once the new owners start bring them in for repairs that a covered under warranty and the factory has to reimburse the dealership for those repairs, it all falls apart. Look at what almost killed GM a few years ago. I would guess that while not every Polaris dealer would carry the bikes, they most likely could get you parts for them. You'd be on your own for the mechanical side of it but barring major stuff, that might work. Only time will tell.
Bottom line for me is that I think it's great that H-D has some competition for our dollars. It keeps them for getting complacent and perhaps even nudges them to be a bit more competitive in pricing. One can hope So I say hurrah for Indian

The Indians are getting a lot of press and building a customer base.  Sounds like both you and your wife will enjoy them. If you ever head down my way let me know!  Safe rides and congratulations!

Interesting.
I have ridden a few Indians.
According to the specs on their site the heaviest one is 930 lbs.
http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/roadmaster-indian-red-ivory-cream/specs
Still lighter than my 11.5 SEUC.
As I grow older a bike over 900 lbs. is tough at slow speeds.

I've only seen the new Polaris Indians in the basic red or blue and I thought the finish was poor. My guess is the new two tones are better, but until I see one up close and in person I don't know for sure. Most of the reviews I've seen have been positive, good handling and ride. Power is decent, but not as good as Polaris has claimed. I've always liked the Indian fenders. Even on the old Kawasaki Drifters.

Want to ride it and see how it feels on the road.

Some people just like to argue.
Me , the older I get the less time I have to go around questioning everything everyone says
Maybe the guy loaded the thing up with 300 lbs of amp, sub woofers, speakers, GPS, a bidet, how the eff do I know
Always having to be right gets old after awhile. I am glad I outgrew it a long time ago.
It makes for more real friendships and less stupid arguments.
