Thanks for the link...I guess the MoCo finally figured out it's their fault pins are coming out and bags are falling off. Add this to the list of recalls for the new touring bikes >:(

Thanks for the post.  Interesting timing in that I was just reading a thread about someone losing their bag.

Gotta go to the dealer gain for a recall.

Heard about the recall and called my dealer. Their service dept said they don't have the parts yet to start repairing the bikes......at least in my area in SW FL. Said all effected bikes will be notified by mail, once I get my letter I am supposed to call and make an appointment.
Until then, check you bag pins when ever you ride.

Never used the silly pins. Put the bolts that Bruckus sells day one at the same time I jettisoned the air shocks

There was already a thread started about the bags falling off and the new recall the Motor Company has just announced. I hope the people that have had damaged bags can get them replaced buy the Motor Company or get reimbursed for the money they have had to shell out.

How are the pins and clips any different than all the past touring bikes? I've had baggers since 09 and no bag retainer failure.

14'-15' RECALL Rushmore saddlebags
« Reply #9 on: July 16, 2015, 12:23:04 PM »

14'-15' RECALL Rushmore saddlebags... Apparently a couple hard bags have fallen off going down the road !!

They just replace the frame side attachment point. In and out 10 minutes !!

This is if you haven't heard yet.

 Thanks

The pins they use on the Rushed More bikes are actually a 1995 part number, and not the number they've used for the past several years.  The receptacle/retainer is a brand new part number for 2014.

Plugged my VIN into the HD web site:

    Open Recalls

NHTSA Recall Campaign Number: 15V-427Recall Date Jul 13, 2015

        Last Updated:  Jul 16, 2015

The saddlebag mounting receptacle, p/n 10900009 on some model year 2014 and 2015Touring family vehicles may not adequately secure the saddlebag to the motorcycle during use.

        Model

        2015 Road Glide Ultra CVO

        Safety Risk

If this condition remains undetected, the saddlebag may become separated from the motorcycle while it is in motion, possibly creating a hazard for other motorists.

        REMEDY

Owners of the affected motorcycles will be asked to arrange service with an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer, who will confirm that the motorcycle is covered by this recall. If covered, the dealer will install the updated receptacle from the recall kit provided. This service will be provided at no charge to the customer.

We strongly urge you to take your motorcycle to your dealer to have the appropriate service performed as soon as possible. Should you choose to ride your motorcycle prior to this service, we urge you to be aware of this condition. Some product campaigns may have expired and you may have to pay for the service. Please see your local Harley-Davidson dealer for further details.

yes mine said the same thing. I have ridden all over with lots of stuff in these bags and never had any indication of a problem. Does anyone know if the pin they are replacing breaks or what is happening?

The part they're replacing isn't the pin, but the receptacle the pin is supposed to lock into.  Basically a spring clip.

My 3 month old RGU is included as well.  Have not noticed a problem other than hard to get pins to line up and lock sometimes after having bags off.  Maybe thats part of the problem being recalled.
